February Peeps...I need some encouragement!

This emotional roller coaster is driving me crazy!  I will be 3 months post op a week from today and I'm only down 41lbs!  WHY?  I am doing everything I should be, and really had anticipated that I would have lost at least 60lbs by my 3 month milestone.  I see some February peeps have lost 70 or even 80lbs...I am so frustrated with my body!  Anyone else out there having a hard time understanding their low weightloss?

I wonder about my weight loss sometimes too. I'm 10 weeks out today and I'm down 40.5lbs. I thought I'd be down further by now. I have to keep reminding myself that even though I thought I was huge, I'm a lightweight when it comes to wls..... and the lightweights tend to lose slower. I also remind myself that everyone loses at different speeds and eventually the weight WILL come off if I just keep doing what I'm supposed to.

It's really hard, isn't it Shelly?  I am with you.  I am down 59 total and 37 since surgery.  When I think that I only lost 15 my first month and 16 my second (and my 3rd ain't lookin spectacular at this point), I get overwhelmed that it will take forever to reach my goal.

But you know what?  I'm losing significant inches.  Exercise and, hell, moving through life in general is so much easier and more enjoyable.  The scale isn't always going down, but it hasn't gone up, even during my period when it always used to jump 5 pounds or so.

I think we just have to realize that everybody's journey is different and find non-scale victories wherever we can.  I don't have a ticker because I try not to compare myself to others too much and dwell on the pounds.

You're not alone!

Thanks Lara...it's just so darn discouraging...I can't imagine that for the little amount that I am able to eat, the weight isn't just falling off...I had pretty much maintained my weight for a year or so prior to surgery and I was wating likely 3000 calories a day!  I've cut that by about 75% so why am I still only losing about a pound every few days, if that???  So complicated!
Thanks for the encouragement!  I appreciate it!
I agree that moving around seems so much easier these days...I guess it'll all work out in the end...Slow and steady just equals lots of frustration but I know in the end, I'll be thankful it was slower...
Take care!  Congrats on your success...that is awesome!

Shelly,
You are doing amazing! I really think those of "us" who have a higher BMI lose a bit more the first month or so. Really though, if you think about it rationally, you cannot help but lose if you stay on program. It's a no-fail tool.  Your body will shed at a rate that is right for your metabolism, etc.  When excercising, you will build muscle, which we all know weighs more than fat (how cruel is that!).  Better for it to come off slower...and less likely to have gall stones, hair loss, etc.  We all want it to happen NOW!!! But we are in for the lifetime change, so just sit back, and enjoy and celebrate every single ounce!
Remember to drink your water....move....and don't graze! You will continue to do amazing!  Doesn't it feel fabulous?!?!?

It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Shelly,

I definitely think that there is no reason for you to worry! I am 10-weeks out and have lost 87lbs, but you should keep in mind that in just a few more weeks you will be hitting your stide while the rest of us are hitting our plateau! Everyone is different and loses at a different pace. I started out at almost 350lbs, and I am just now down to a weight that some people start this journey at. Try not to get discouraged! Stick to what your doctor suggests and continue to stay positive! It will happen and I am sure you will reach your goals far sooner than you imagine!

Thanks Shelba...I really need to keep reminding myself that everyone is different.  Intellectually, I know this and I say it to others but when it comes to me, I guess I just get so frustrated!  I keep having to remind myself that I was 'lighter weight' to begin with, but I really just want to see some smaller numbers on that damn scale!  Thanks for your kind words!

10 days from the 90 day mark and only 38.5 lbs down.  You are not alone.  I'm frustrated and pissed off but I've come to understand that we are not so unusual.

Worst of all, I'm lucky if I eat 12oz in a day because the protein foods leave me unbelievably full for so long.  I don't eat too much, I excercise, and I loose extremely slowly.  Only 8.5 lbs the first month.

My three month goal is 51.5lbs.  Even with a slow start I really thought I would make it but that leaves 13lbs to go as of today.  Still, I stick with the program...
