How Much are you eating?

I will be 10 weeks out tomorrow and still can't get a handle on things. I met with the nutritionist like 3 weeks ago and she said I should be eating around 1200 cals a day. I thought that was an awful lot for this stage. Let me add, 1200 cals should be my net cals. Obviously I need to eat more if I am working out hard. I have lost 48# so far since surgery but feel like I should have lost more by now. I started with a BMI of 43. I was just wondering what everyone else's opinion was. thanks!

I had my surgery Feb 17th and I've lost 40.5lbs (the other 20 was the 3 day liquid diet). I don't know what my calorie count is but I eat a 1/2 cup of food, 3 times a day, and 2 snacks. I doubt if I hit 1200 though.

i don't know the magic number of calories i get each day- sometimes its 800 sometimes is 1300.  Dr. C, Dr. McHottie and Nurse Linda have all told me it doesn't matter how many calories as long as you get your protein.  If you aren't loosing as fast they always suggest up the protein.  I had sugery January 13th, and i'm down about 52 lbs.  So remember everyone looses differently, you are doing great, and looking great too!  Just keep up the good work, and maybe take measurements because you could be loosing inches, and gaining muscle which won't effect the weight.  Good luck honnie!

Hey Alli, I have lost 42 lbs and my 8 week mark I think is wed.  I usually have a cup of decaf coffee with splenda and powdered creamer about 6 am, then about 8-9 I have a poached egg with 1/2 slice of dry wheat toast, around 10 or so a protein shake, then for lunch some tuna with celery and onions, chopped fine with a litte light mayo just to moisten it, then during the afternoon, water or tea, for dinner around 6 I have what ever we are having for dinner, chicken, sausage or ground beef, then around 8 Pm either protein shake or protein bar or some kind of snack , lately I have been craving oranges, so I might have what I can eat of an orange.  I really dont' know how many calories that adds up to.  I am thinking around 8-1000 MAYBE....if that, but I have been averaging about a pound a day lately, or 5 lbs a week.  Don't know if that really helps or not, but that is what I am eating~!~ Good luck

My surgeon has me (about a week ahead of you) at 1000 calories for the foreseeable future.

Program is designed for 800-900 calories per nut.  I've lost a little less than you have at 12 weeks out with similat starting BMI.  I'm where I'm supposed to be per doc.

Doc says 1000-1100 calories daily is good in month two.    I still eat little so I shoot for min 800 knowing I can max at 1100 which for me is plenty.

I have no idea how many calories I consume in a day... 2 or 3 protein shakes, all the herbal tea I can drink during the day... and then a light meal (4oz) with my kiddies during dinner, before bed snack a few SF popsicles and water at bedtime.

I doubt thats much more than 700 - 800 calories every day.
