Anyone else feel like the weight will just never come off?

I'm sure I'm just being moody because of my "monthly friend" but I have only lost 5 or so pounds in the last two weeks and it is really getting to me. I can't break the 300 mark to save me. Even gained a pound when I got to 301. It is really starting to drive me batty. I feel like my body hates me and is fighting me every step of the way. I know my overall weightloss is okay, but dang it seems like it is taking so much longer than most. I'm trying to be patient--really I am, but I can't help but feel like I'm doing something wrong even when I don't think I am. I probably eat a few more (good) carbs than some, but my nut wants me to have 120g per day, so I have to eat some. Like breakfast was an egg and a 1/4 piece of whole grain (4g protein/4g fiber) toast. When else in my life would I have eaten a whopping 100 calories for breakfast? I don't know. Maybe my hormones are messing with me and I am feeling a bit depressed. I've joined the gym and exercised twice this week and hope to get in today and tomorrow too. I'm praying that will help perk up my mood and my weightloss.

Thanks for listening.

Denise

I hear you... I have been working my butt off at the gym 5 days a week and I am doing weights and I havent seen any weight come off in 3 weeks. I dont know what the deal is I am begining to think that even this wont work for me. It works for everyone else so I dont get it??!!:(   I dont know what to do if you have any suggestions let me know. I have lost 30lbs in 7 week I know people usually lose more and I dont know if its cause I was 230 when I had my surgery and I am just not losing cause I dont have as much to lose but it is getting frustrating. So i completly understand.
Thanks

Hang in there, Denise.    I think you are doing everything right.

I lost 12 pounds my first week... which was bad because that set my expectations high... and then only 3 pounds the rest of my first month.  I kept thinking to myself, "I could have lost 15 pounds in a month WITHOUT drastic surgery, particularly with eating so little."

I guess we have to put some trust in the process.  I'm trying very hard not to compare myself to others because that will DEFINITELY drive me crazy.

I did re-take some measurements one month out so it felt good to be losing inches, but there's nothing like seeing the scale move.  Do you weigh every day? I know it's bad, but I still do it... I mostly don't let it affect my day, but it is really hard.

My surgeon was clear at my first pre-op appointment that the weight loss tended to be in spurts and not smoothly downward.

Trust the process--that is a tough one, but I really sat and thought today and said I can either continue doing the right things and battle through it or I can let it get me down which will drive me to start eating the wrong things and that is what got me here in the first place!! I do occasionally have a sugar free cookie or whipped cream on fruit and maybe part of my problem is that I feel guilty for my little "treats", but this is real life and I am not going to go forever with nothing sweet ever again, so at least I'm trying to make good substitutions. The head hunger is starting to get me a bit too, so I'm trying to fight off the urge to eat other than scheduled meal and snack times.

I really try to only weigh once a week, but when these slow time**** I weigh more in hopes of seeing movement. Probably the exact wrong thing to do and I am really going to make a real effort to stop it.

Thanks for all the kind words.

Denise

Denise,
Stick with it and it will come off.  I'm only out 22 days from surgery.  I've lost  26 lbs.  It slowed down a bit, and now it is starting to drop again.  I was getting frustrated myself.  I wi**** would just fall off.      Pam. ([email protected])

Hey Denise...we are one day apart on our surgery dates and I hear ya!  For the little amount we're eating, it feels like the scale should be going down every time we step on it!  So, at a little over six weeks out, I really had thought I'd be down more by now, but nope, the past couple of weeks have been SLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW weight loss!
I wish you all the best and look forward to hearing about your success...it's coming!

Shelly

I hear ya! My husband said, "Just start exercising--you'll be okay." And honestly, it irritates me that I have to work so hard when some literally don't exercise a second and the weight pours off (my dear friend is one of them). I want to do this the right way and develop good habits, so I will continue to exercise and just be thankful for the energy and good feelings it brings!

Thanks! You hang in there too!

Denise

I feel the same way my scale hasn't moved in 2 weeks and when it does it's only one or two pounds. I did find out when it did move it was because I was drinking the correct amount of water. It's hard to get all the required fluids in.  Your not alone!

Water is HUGE. I have been struggling lately too, but now that I am exercising the water intake seems to be increasing nicely. It affects the bowel movement aspect too and Lord knows if we are backed up that way it could be affecting weight too.

Thanks for the reminder!!

I had hit 20 lbs at my one month check up- I didn't get on a scale until my 6 week time and lost another 10.  I don't plan to weigh again until my 8 weeks - but am sure I will stay the same.  My body always did work differently with that time of month.  My weight can stay the same for 3 weeks and then the week after my monthly time I can lose 5 lbs in a day.  Just quit looking at the scale and start drinking your water!  You know you are doing what you are supposed to and it will show up- maybe not tomorrow morning- but one morning.  I can't believe your nut wants you to have 120g of carb a day- I am limited to 40gms!
