Breakfast

I've been having trouble figuring out a healthy breakfast so I just tried to eat a scrambled egg white with a tiny bit of cheese onion and got violently ill.  Only the second time this has happened since surgery.  Now, I've eaten whole eggs before fine, onions fine, and cheese fine.  Weird...

Now I'm lost.  What does everyone eat for breakfast that is high in protein and low in fat??

I track everything on The Daily Plate and I'm obsessive about getting the proper ratio etc.

I do about 550 calories a day and don't want to waste them on anything too fatty...maybe I should just go back to a protein shake.  Blah.

Do egg beaters tend to work better with people than regular eggs?

They do for me.  I don't get sick on real eggs; they just sit much more heavily and I have to go very, very slowly with them.

I don't have alot of choice just yet but I have either oatmeal, cottage cheese and a soda cracker, or tuna and a soda cracker.

I mix 1 spoonful of Fibersure and a serving of Ultrameal protein powder into a serving of malt-o-meal.  It adds up to 19g of protein...nice start for the day.  However, it's 315 calories which may be high for you.  My nut told not to worry about daily calories ...I've been averaging about 650/day.

I do much better with eggs that are soft scrambled and just barely done. They go down much easier and sit very well. You could also try some cream of wheat made with skim milk. It is very comforting on the pouch.

Thanks for all the tips guys...I definitely need them :)  I got the pleasure of learning what the "foamies" are tonight at dinner so I think my tummy is very sensitive today.  I think in the morning I'll try some oatmeal or cream of wheat...maybe go easy on things tomorrow..stick to a smoother consistancy for a day and let things calm down.  I do agree with the person who said that very soft scrambled eggs go down easier...I did a soft boiled egg smashed up and it was always sooo good.  I just realized how much cholesterol and fat is in an egg so was trying to go healthier lol.
Guess it didn't work out so well! :)

For breakfast I have one of the following:
Cream of Wheat with a bit of FF milk and "fake" brown sugar
Egg Beater omelette stuffed with FF cottage cheese or shredded cheddar cheese
Smoothie (1/2 banana, 1/4 c. FF milk, 1 scoop protein powder, 4 oz Activia Strawberry yogurt)
  Cottage Cheese with SF preserves

The smoothie is HIGH in protein, but also about 300 cal.

It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.
