I'm sorry but I need to see if anyone is suffering like I am with the runs!  I had surgery on the 18th and am still on full liquids. I normally have runny mashed potatoes at least twice a day and either broth/soup or sugar-free pudding for the other meal = and I don't usually have problems with feeling full and not wanting to eat.  However,  this morning I had mashed potatoes but the rest of the day I felt so bloated and miserablen- esp after my skim milk/CIB/Scoop of protein powder shake. I didn't eat anything else the rest of the day and I've been in the bathroom all day!

Two of my kids had the pukey/runny flu this week but they are over it. My stomach doesn't hurt either than feeling extremely full and I don't feel all "churny/burny" inside like you do with the flu.

I called my surgeon's office around noon and the doctor didn't seem to worried - said to try Kaopectate which tastes awful and hasn't really helped yet.  I'm so drained of energy and this is reallky affecting me mentally because I'm so worn out.

It's to the point now that my fruit punch (Crystal light, of course) doesn't even have time to lose it's color before it runs through.  When will this end??  I'm even so tired I'm not sure if I'll feel lke going to the consignment shop tomorrow and I have a $5 "Syracuse Stimulous Check" in the paper.  Who can turn down free stuff??

IS THIS NORMAL???

i had that problem as well...but mine was because of the protein shake mix....it had to much sugar when added to the milk...its called dumping...some people puke some of us......try changing up your protein shake and maybe mark down all your intake and see what you have in common on the days you dump.

it worked for me.  good luck!!  i hope you feel better soon

I was the same way for the first week or so. And yea, the Crystal Light was quite the shocker! I actually cannot drink it, or I have the same problem. Nurse said it was probably the type of artifical sweetner in it.
Anyway, just make sure you keep your water up so as to not get dehydrated. Things will start to firm up as your intestines and bowels get over the shock of surgery.

Good luck!

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

OH WOW!  I'm so sorry that you felt sick like I did.  I didn't even consider that it was dumping -  I'm glad I posted the question too.

It's 2:45 pm and I'm just now eating something since yesterday AM and I'm taking it SLOW SLOW SLOW so I can stop at the first sign of disaster!  I have also quit drinking anything bu****er so I can tell if it's just what I had yesterday or it's partly the crystal light that is bothering me.

I hope I get the hang of this new lifestyle soon!

Hi,

After reading your posts, I posted a separate topic on Crystal Light.

It could very well be what's causing you problems.

Also, I know that some people can't tolerate milk products right after surgery.  Even if it's FF, it can cause major gas etc.
