Crystal Light
Hi,
I saw a few postings about painful diarreha sp?
You might want to check your Crystal Light and see what sweetner they ARE using.
Sorbitol, can cause EXTREME gas pain!
And, Splenda can do the same for some people.
I had to really limit the Splenda the first few months. My sugar free poscicles were sweetened with it... and I noticed that if I ate two or three within a two hour period, I'd get the stomach pain etc.
4 years out, I'm able to tolerate Splenda a lot better... but I still watch my intake... because the pain was so bad before... I definitely don't want to get it again.
Hope this helps.

The CRYSTAL LIGHT, which I drank by the gallons pre-op, just won't work with me right now. I'm having a hard time finding a substitute, sojust hanging in with water. Splenda seems okay for me, as I put it on my cream of wheat without worries. BUT I MISS MY CRYSTAL LIGHT!
Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Hi again!
Not sure if it's doctor recommended... but what worked for me during the beginning was taking a 12-16 oz bottle of water, and adding just A LITTLE BIT (like 1/8 or 1/10 of bottle) of no sugar added cranberry juice.
The thing is, it has to stay cold to taste good. It's gets kind of funky when it gets warm.
These days I mostly just drink water... and a cup or two of coffee in the morning.
That's another thing, I was able to drink a very small amount of coffee, like 2-4 ounces with a dash of sugar free vanilla creamer starting the 3rd or 4th week.
Prior to surgery I used to drink 6-8 cups of coffee a day : (
They don't use sorbitol or splenda in the sugar free Nestle Coffee Mate creamers... they use "Maltodextrine" which I believe is a "sugar alcohol."
Unfortunately, I think it does have a fair share of chemicals in the product, but I've never had problems with it. But you should probably test it a little at a time.
Hope this helps.
