It's been a bit crazy going from oxygen and four nebulizer treatments a day to ending back in the emergency room on the 22nd. I am having an allergic reaction to something and they have no clue what is going on. My face all swollen on the right side my lips as well and my hands and arms all red blotchy and itchy and now tonight I found the blotches on my legs as well. They have had me on prednisone twice now for all of you that don't know what that is it's steroids not something I really wanted but I guess it was necessary. I go back to the doctors tomorrow I am praying something fixes this mess I been like this since the 19Th.I am also taking benadryl for the itchiness in the evening and claritin during the day. Other than this situation the surgery and my recovery process has been good.

I'm not having the problems you are but I am miserable. My abdomen is still so sore and I can't come even close to getting in all of my protein.  I was happy when I got 26 grams yesterday.  How in the WORLD am I supposed to get 60-80 grams when I'm on a full-liquid diet?  Unflavored protein powder still has a tatse and I don't like to taste it in everything. It's about to drive me MAD!  I just pray that things go better for me when I get moved to pureed foods or I may just lose it.

Hope you feel better soon.

Kristina,
What kind of protein drinks are you drinking. I switched mine up so I wasn't getting sick of Carnation instant breakfast.

diet V8 splash
1 whole banana
whey protein unflavored
3-4 ice cubes

CIBreakfast
1/2 banana
whey protein unflavored
skim milk

The banana helps give you potassium your lacking and also makes the shake taste better. Hope that helps you out some I wish you the best. Thanks for the feel better soon wishes,

Cathy

I'm on the full liquid diet for another week - I honestly haven't even thought about CIB as a protein source, I'll have to check that out.  I'm living off of sugar-free pudding, soupy mashed potatoes, and cream soups.  I have the Unjury unflavored and Vanilla protein powder.  I can tolerate the unflavored in my mashed potatoes if I put chicken broth in it - otherwise it is gross.  I sprinkled some of the vanilla into my chocolate pudding and it's OK.  I just can't get enough protein in. The way to really pack on the numbers is to drink the protein powder in skim milk  (just over 10 grams per 4 oz of milk) but it makes me want to gag. I can't stand it.  I'd honesly rather just not eat at all then have to taste that protein powder all the time.

I'm sorry for being such a whiner but thank you so much for your shake advice.

BTW I love you!  I actually like the taste of CIB and we have a bunch on hand.  My daughter is underweight so we add it to her milk to help pack on pounds.  It doesn't help her much but hey! I have another protein sourse and it doesn't make me want to puke!

Glad I could help the whey protein I got is unflavored and its from gnc or you can get it from walmart it has 21 grams of protein in one scoop. So 21 grams of protein would be in the diet v8 splash and in the cib there would be 26 grams of protein.

Hi, Fluff,
I'm really sorry to hear about all you are going through right now. I just can't imagine it. I hope they are able to find the problem soon so that you can get some relief. Hang in there, dear.

I've been mostly fine. I did have a rough day yesterday and by that I mean that my pouch was grouchy and nothing seemed to sit well I didn't get all of anything in but today I'm feeling better and hopefully I'll be able to get everything in. Otherwise, things are good and I've been very blessed so far. I'm very happy with my decision to do this and so far, no regrets.

I hope you feel better soon.

RNY 2/9/09 and doing fine.  Got staples out yesterday and Dr. put me on soft foods.  So far I have lost 12 pounds since surgery and 37 overall since the start.  I took 1/2 of one pain pill when I got home and have had nothing since.

If I had imagined that this would be so good, I would have done this 30 years ago!  I keep waiting on the other shoe to drop, but so far so good.

I had some tuna last night and all seemed to go down well, no problems with it so far.

Good luck and hugs to all my Feb. friends.
