Way to go!
One of the things I wish I had done, was bring a pillow with me for the ride home. I should have asked the hospital, they would have let me take one. Anyways, you can use it to put between you and the seatbelt, to make the ride more comfortable.
My ride home, we hit a freeway under construction and OMG... I was hanging onto the seatbelt and holding it away from my body to keep from hitting my stitches etc.
I had laporscopic too, over 4 years ago. You hardly notice the scars at all. I was very fortunate, I healed very quickly and had no complications.
The most important thing is, follow your doctor's orders.
I'm told, I got up shortly after surgery and began walking the halls with my husband's help. I don't remember, lol... because I was on pain meds... but they had drilled into my head how important walking was to keep from getting embylysms sp?... that in my dopey state... I got up and started moving.
I was fortunate, my doctor gave me anti anxiety meds to take during the few days of liquid diet prior to the surgery, it helped a lot, because I slept a lot : ) Not sure if others advise that but it worked for me.
I think I was so worried about making sure my bowels were clear, since leakage is a main complication right after surgery... I think if I ended up doing the liquid diet for a few days more than necessary.
Anyways... pretend you're going on a vacation! Enjoy the break away from "real life"...
I was really fortunate, they let my hubby camp out in my hospital room for three days. So even though I was in and out of it... it felt a little like a vacation.
Good luck! Go in trusting that you will come out better... have faith that things will go well... just the believing helps!

I too don't know whether to pannic, jump for joy at what might be, or simply freeze in time, waiting for Friday to be here.
The butterflies in my stomache are working tripple overtime already.
So as far as advise goes, well...stay calm...and trust in yourself that you have made the best decission of your life...or at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it

Hey Daisygirl and Seejay100! I'm set to go under on Friday too! I'm in Spokane, WA. I've been told to be at the hospital at 7am--surgery @ nine. Expecting to be home Saturday morning (fingers crossed) especially since I'm a self-pay for my VSG. I think I'm nervous enough for all of us! So no need to worry--I've got it covered. I'd take another Xanax for you guys if it'd help. Trying to focus on me a year from now...must learn to visualize while waiting in pre-op. Wishing you both a quick recovery and hope to chat soon!

Hey Susan,& Daisy, what a great day this will be! Three of us and counting. I suppose my surgery is at nine as well since my check-in time is seven. I haven't posted much on this board, finding it hard enough to find the time to post on our local boards and get to our meetings.
I am still in the "really can't believe this is going to happen for me", stage, as I only found out about the sleeve procedure about six months ago,(though I have been a patient of his for a few years now)

which will hopefully relieve some of the tension in my shoulders.
Yes, I have had the citrate bowel prep before and although it tastes yucky
, the whole procedure isn't as bad as it sounds.
Some tips: have only clear fluids starting now, chill the bottle of citrate before drinking, hold your nose as you drink it (no taste then), feel free to gulp it down since it's probably the last time you can gulp anything, make sure you have some reading or knitting on hand near the throne and be prepared to be there for a while.
Thanks for the well wishes and I will be praying that both yours and Susan's recovery is quick and uneventful.
