Home and healing

I had my RNY 2/18 and am home now.

I'm really tired and having trouble squeezing in all of the fluids/meals.  I hope to get on schedule in the next day or two.

Only one of my incision areas hurts and the surgeon says it's due to the stitch that she put in my muscles to help avoid a hernia.  It's a little sore on it's own then sometimes when I eat or drink something the pain swells and is almost unbearable.  Other than that I have little pain and think I am recovering very well.

I only got sick to my stomach in the hospital the first 3 times I had to get up to walk. Surgeon believes it was the anesthesia that caused this.  I was shocked to learn that I had to get up every 4 hours to walk - day and night.  I was up and walking 5 hours after surgery!  I know it's for my own good though. This office has had no surgery-related deaths so they must know what they are doing.

Welcome home take your time and do what you can do. It's different for everyone. As each day passes it should become easier for you. Just remember to sip and walk. Its good for you to get your sleep in but when your awake definitely walk around.I wish you the best keep us posted.

Hi Kristina,

I am just a few days ahead of you.  I still have to really think about getting all the fluids in during the day.  I never realized that  sip, sip, sip would be so hard.  Since the drainage tube has been removed, I feel much better.  I think the being tired is just part of it.  I went to church today and had to come home and nap for a bit.  I guess we just have to slow down to heal.  Hang in there.  Hope you have a speedy recovery.  Sounds like you are doing well.
