I have choosen to have surgery a long way from home.  I fly in with my husband on the 23rd and hopefully will be able to fly home on the 27th.  I acutally have surgery on the 24th.  I am having a gastric bypass.  I am really nervous about the flight home as I have heard bad things about gas ect.  Has anyone else done this.

Ok got a question why have you chosen to do this so far away from home and who will do your after care? I wish you the best but are you completely sure this is right for you?

The surgeon doing my surgery comes to town every month so he will be doing my after care in my home town.  His nurse worked for a surgeon in town and I have done my reserch and feel more comfortable for a number of reason going with him than the one surgeon that does baratrics in my town.  Really the only concern I have is the pain on the plane trip home.

You should get pain meds.  You can borrow a w/c at thei airport or get a ride.  Give yourself lots of time and take it easy.  On the plane, try to get up alot to move your legs.
