Can You Offer Words of WISDOM ?????
My surgery is tomorrow morning -- lap RNY, possible open.
For those of you who have gone before me, would you be kind enough to tell me the one thing I should do or be prepared for post-op that you wish someone would have told you?
Somewhere on these forums, I've read about Gas-X and tummy supports (I assume girdle-like supports). I understand the tummy support and I assume because it's abdominal surgery, I will be prone to gas afterwards; hence the Gas-X.
I posted this question on another board also, but I thought there might be some different people on here who just had their surgery done the past week or so and might be sitting there right now saying, "oh, I wish someone would have told me this or that!"
I would really appreciate any other words of wisdom ya'll can offer!!!

Sandy,
I had my surgery in Jan and things went perfect. I brought Gas-X but they wouldn't let me take it. Tummy support would only be for open surgery. Suggestions of things to bring that helped me...
pillow for your ride home (I didn't need it but others have)
zip loc gallon bag, just in case the ride home make you queasy (I didn't but some do)
I brought Carmex for my lips, I liked the cooling way it made them feel.
My recommendation to anyone have surgery is get out of bed and WALK, WALK, WALK and Sip, Sip, Sip. If they tell you they want you to do it 3 times, shoot for 4. The more you walk the quicker the gas leaves and the better you will feel. Do the same when you get home.
I wish you the best for your surgery tomorrow. You will be in great hands and we're saving a warm spot for you on the losers bench.
