Okay, do burps/gas really hurt you too?

What is with this painful gas??? I'm walking. Outside down my street even. But sometimes when I have to burp, it is a really sharp pain that sort of takes my breath until it passes. Just wanted to hear how some of my recent post op buddies are feeling with it.

Thanks!!

Denise

I hope it gets better for you soon! I've heard that Gas X strips are a best friend after surgery.

I'm hitting my Gas-X strips this morning (when I can actually open them--they are a bit like a brain teaser puzzle to get open)--forgot about them.

Thanks for the reminder.

Just so you know as well, I was told to take 2 or 3 at a time. Otherwise they won't do alot.
How are you feeling other than that?

My 2 cents worth - I only take one at a time and it does the trick for me.  Everyone is different so maybe start slow and work up to what your body needs?  The packaging says you can take several at a time and not to exceed 8 a day.  Part of why I stick to one at a time is that I was taking them every other hour or so the first few days out.

I'm really doing pretty darn good. Getting in all my fluids and protein, which seems to be pretty good for this early out. Even managing a few bites of my allowed items here and there.

Thanks for checking!!

That is really good for this early out!! I read all the time on the boards about people trying to get in all of their water and not being able to. Does your surgeon have a protein amount that he wants you to hit daily?

I was just saying to my friend that it is so weird to be having such an easy time of it because I read the same thing SO often about people having trouble. I guess if everything is kind of yuck to you it would be really tough, but I've enjoyed every flavor of crystal light and about 80% of the protein shakes. I wonder if my tastes could change still? Anyway, doc wants us to shoot for 60-80 grams. I can do 3 shakes a day (26g protein) no problem then just do the greek yogurt and added protein to stuff and I'm good.

Keeping my fingers crossed things keep going well!

LOL!  That packaging is tricky!  I had to get my husband to open them when I was really doped up :)

They really do the trick for me though.

omg!  my gas pains were soooooo bad!  what worked for me was moving around. i know at this stage its harder to walk and move but, i managed to lay on my forearms and knees on the couch for a second, and i had my boyfriend beside me for support, and i just kinda rolled from side to side as much as possible....  walking hurt me....but.......it did get the gas out, i still think i have a little trapped....

acutally now that im thinking back on that horrible part....i was told a heating pad laid on your tummy will help your body to absorb some of the gas so it can be expelled. umm, i would put something in between your skin and the heating pad.
