Need quick answers Magnesium Citrate?
I need some advice. My surgery is tomorrow morning at 7 am. I took my full bottle of magnesium citrate at 2:30 this afternoon. I became so nauseous, that I COULD NOT drink water for about an hour. I was petrified I would vomit. I have been drinking water continuously since. However I have only gone to the bathroom ONCE and that was that. It has been 6 hours and not much happening. Should I expect a lot more, if not, then what should I do? After searching the boards, everyone has said, that it 'really cleaned me out', but I am doubtful it is doing much. HELP? Advice?
I have to leave for the hospital at 5 AM, so no talking to anyone beforehand there.
Thanks!
Have you been on liquids only for your pre op? Have you already had a BM since the last time you ate anything solid.
When my daughter had her surgery the magnesium citrate did not keep her running. She had a light breakfast and lunch of a small salad w/ grilled chicken and calamari before the clean out.
I don't know how many times she went but it was not a whole lot. It took awhile but she did finish the whole bottle before midnight.
If you've been eating light you may be clean. already.
Hope this helps and good luck tomorrow.

Glad to read through this thread and see that it all worked out for you :)
In case anyone else has this problem - my surgeon said to drink another half bottle if I hadn't gotten any results after a few hours. I bought two bottles in case a) I yakked up the first bottle and b) in case the 1st bottle didn't get it done.
Thanks for the advice posted here about the hot tea chaser...I'm take my dose in a half hour and will definately follow with hot tea,
I also just spoke to a friend who had the surgery about 6 months ago and she reminded me to cram in as much fluid as possible today. The more hydrated you are heading into surgery the better.
Good luck 2/3-ers!
Steph
