Confused about pre-op instructions

I'm trying to figure out my notes from the pre-op class.  I know that i'm supposed to take the magenesium citrate at 11am the day before the surgery but my notes say "no food/water after midnight".  Is that midnight the day before the surgery or the day before the magnesium citrate?  It doesn't make sense to be eating on the same day you're cleaning out your bowels but 24 hours withou****er also concerns me when I think about going into surgery dehydrated.

And I'm hungry now on the 900 cal diet...don't want to think of my mood on the 0 cal diet :)

It's midnight on the day of your surgery.

wow, I don't know.  My doctor isn't making me do that. I have to have nothing but clear liquids the day before and nothing after midnight of course.  I wish I knew .. Good luck to you..  I know apprehension about the low calories but I think what I have heard is your jus not hungry for it.. it becomes more a must eat than a want to eat thing.. back to what is should have been all along.. right??  congrads about your loss that awesome...

 I have to do fleet enema or magnesium citrate for two days before my surgery and the day before surgery I am on clear liquids with everything stopping at midnight.  You definitely don't want to get dehydrated.

By the way...I am having my gallbladder out and hernia repaired on monday and I just did Mag Citrate today.  Wow....stay near a toilet lol

Wow...My doc must be a sadist(jj) I have to do clear liquids, enemas and the mag cit for 3 before surgery....dang ya'll are lucky! I have been on a 500 calorie protien shake only diet since Jan 20th and have to stay on it til the fun stuff starts!

  You can't have anything from midnight the night before your surgery on. The day before is still your pre op diet.
