By cheating on your liquid diet you are just cheating yourself. Are you ready for surgery......I mean really ready? I have been on a 30 day pre op diet and then I start liquids. I know it will be difficult, but I have to commit just as you do. Don't give in to your temptation. If you just have to chew something then get a stick of gum and go to town on it.  The liquid diet is for your safety. Please don't risk your health by cheating.

This is really hard but put this one slip behind you and do your best to stick with it.  You really don't want to either a) not have lost enough so they won't even do the surgery or b) have to postpone because they can't work around your liver.

Your body is de-toxing and in carb-withdrawal but this WILL GET BETTER in a few days.

Good luck - you can do this!

this is day 2 for me too.  My Dr. has us on liquids for breakfast, and lunch, but at night we get 3 oz of meat and a salad or steamed veggies.   Some of the posts have stated theat their night meal was a lein cusine.

Some Doctors want you to be more restrictive than others.  I would always say to stick to what your Dr. says, but based on what some other doctors allow, I would say that you didn't kill yourself to eat what you ate, but you should try your best to stick to what your Dr. said.

It is hard, but I have done it so far.  I have to point out that it is easier for me because my Dr. allows some food at night, although very limited food at night.

Hello, LIke said above don't give up.

However not being able to do this, does not mean you are not ready for this surgery. Nor does it mean you are weaker, or you simply cannot do this. Heck I am on three lean cousins a day, and hunny thats hard for me. To be honest i dont want to expierence the 4 or 5 shake diet thing, i am already struggling as is. However the day is arriving where I to have to do the preop diet. Now comes the hard part to tame the best that lives inside of most of us that are on this journey. When your body is used to eating out of hunger or randomness and to now have to push that best aside, is challenging for anyone.. This is not easy, I can almost garentee you this will be the hardest part, the famous PRE OP DIET! Don't look at yourself as failour, or you cant do this. Because it's not a matter of you can't, it's a matter of you have to! If all in all your body is still hunry, i mean grawling after your shakes, maybe you are not getting enough, compared to what your body used to consume... THe prupose to the preop diet is to shed some pounds, to prepare you but to ultimatley shrink your liver. It is nessary, and does have a purpose. However if you messed up, move forward, leave it go and try harder the next day! Hugs

Thanks Ladies you were the inspairation I needed to get focused... today is a great day!!!!  I am super positive and I know I can do this!!! I was just feeling down yesterday... The question has been raised " am I sure I'm ready for this, truly ready for this?" well the answer is yes I am!!! However , was I prepared for how hard this all liquid diet would be? uummmm NO!!! I realize that this will be our life after surgery and thats fine but seriously without any form of suppresant other than will power..thats a little crazy and its something I am working on everyday that this liquid diet goes on....Gum is something I will be doing for sure to get me through this odd time of my life... but I'm really not a gum chewer but strange how something this small will make a world of difference...so thanks and good luck to everyone!!!

I am on my second day of liquid protein. I am on the 5 shakes a day and nothing to chew as well. I have a choice between 5 of the carnation instant breakfast SF or Slim Fast 3 regular and 2 low carb.
Before I started the liquid protein I was fortunate to have someone tell me to try the other protein liquid option if I didn't feel well. Yesterday I had a migraine so I switched from the instant breakfast to slimfast and today I feel great. Hang in there. Soon we will be post ops looking at a much healthier us!

you might also try a sugar free popsicle when it gets really tough.  They're just 10 calories.

I'm glad it's looking better for you!!
