So HUNGRY tonight!

I did really good the first few days, last night I started getting hungry and I haven't been able to shake it today.  Part of the probloem may have been that I worked from home today so wasn't so distracted by people and programs.

I'm jealous of those of you who seem to have more latitude in your pre-surgery diet.  Mine is a pretty harsh 955 calorie/day mostly liquid diet.  It's certainly doing the job - I'm losing over 1.5 pounds a day.

Keep Focused I intake less than 900 calories a day the slimfast optimas are 190 calories my meals are anywhere from 180-220 calories and the chicken broth is 5 calories. Drink plenty of fluids drink some broth. I know being at home is hard I have two days to be home Sunday and Monday and I tend to hiberate in my room except for when I make my kids dinner. Keep busy go for a walk take a bath listen to some music read a book and just keep in your mind why you are doing this. I remember what my surgeon says every moment. If you liver hasn't shrunk and if you haven't lost the weight needed then he will sew me back up and say sorry he couldn't proceed with the surgery. Please know that within yourself you do have the strength to pull through its a moment in your life where you have so much more to look forward to. I have faith in you that you can do this and will succeed in all you put your mind to.We are almost there we have the same date we can do this.Ten more days of diet and the 11th brings us to our surgery.

Honey...just think..you could be me.  I'm on 550 calorie pure liquid diet here lol!  For four weeks!  I'm ready to eat the furniture.

Seriously though..just keep reminding yourself that this is just a brief spot of time in your life and it's for your health.  You will soon be able to eat things with flavor that actually taste good...just in small quantities.

I'm hungry.

lol

Oh dear - this is horrible of me - it really does help to know that not everyone gets to eat more than me :)

Thanks for your message Jennifer - and good luck with your mucjh harder challenge (4 weeks?  Good Lord!!!).  Based on the level-headed humor of your message I'm sure you'll do fine.

I don't have a set number of calories but with the liquids I'm allowed it cant add up to much.

I can have 2 Atkins shakes a day 150 calories each

4 oz lowfat cottage cheese a day 90 calories

Unlimited broth I don't know about the calories but I learned today that I hate beef broth. At least the brand I have.

Unlimited water no calories

Unlimited sugar free jello 10 calories

I can also have sugar free popsicles but it is so cold I didn't buy any

This is my first day. I have 9 more days to go.

Wow, you guys are lucky! My pre-op diet starts next Monday and I am only allowed 3-4 8oz protein powder-mix drinks a day and salad with NOTHING on it! I wish I was allowed jello and things! I am dreading my two weeks, any advice?

That seems like a pretty strange diet before surgery. Is that what the nutritionist told you?

Yep, that is the diet they put all of us on pre-operatively.
