K, I am starting my liver shrink diet on Monday (26th) and i am thinking i have not been using the best shakes for the last few weeks...

I have been doing slim fast, but there are 18g of sugar in them, and after surgery my doc is saying one with no more than 10g...............

any suggestions???

Hey Surgery Sister! The Slim Fast Low Carb have really good stats, but seem to be harder fo find now.

My guidelines are 100-200 calories and more than 13 grams of protein.  The No Sugar Added Carnation Instant Breakfast also seem to just barely fit the bill.

I've also tried the Atkins Advantage Ready to Drink and liked them and the stats are good.  Muscle Milk Light would also work but I haven't tried it yet.

What's your exact pre-op diet? Mine is 4 protein shakes, 2 servings of fruit and 1 meal with 4 oz. of lean protein and vegetables.

Hello How are you doing? I got "Whey protein unflavored"  you can find it at GNC and I also know walmart has it and they have all kinds of flavors and also carnation instant breakfast yellow box for after surgery. Add the scoop of whey protein to the carnation instant breakfast and add skim or 1% milk and your good to go.

Right now I am drinking slimfast optima two times a day. This is how my schedule goes I actually found it to help me and I stay full not hungry.

10:30 Slimfast
1:30   Chicken broth Protein Bar and also crystal light
5:30 healthy choice lean cuisine or smart ones meal none pasta based with a dinner plate full of salad with the spray dressings.
7:30 I drink my other slimfast.

Throughout the day I drink water and more crystal light I tend to stay full and it makes it easier for me.I wish you the best the first three days are tough it does get easier from there I promise stay focused stay busy and you will be ok.
~11 more days until my RNY~

I'm doing the Metagenics Ultrameal protein powder.  I tried several different options and this was the best tasting and blended the best (I don't care for the grittiness of most of them).  I thought the Adkins Advantage was horrible but really like the Slim Fast High Protein (and it's more convenient than mixing powders).

FYI - I also tried Ultra Soy powder and a Rice Protein powder (which I thought was awful)
