Hi, I am really excited about my upcoming RNY, but I'm starting to get really nervous.  I am concerned about complications and if I will truly be successful long term.  So many others have regained their weight.  I must tell you that thought really scares me.  Is anyone else feeling this way?

OMG! I was the same way until recently, I was more afraid of the actual anesthesia I was worried I would wake up in the middle of it, even to the point of having nightmares! I am also worried about regaining the weight...I was told by a very dear friend. You will do what you need to do. If you use this opportunity as a tool you will achieve your goals and keep the weight off. If you believe it to be a quick fix....you are only lying to yourself.

You arent alone!! I am excited and officially have 2 weeks and 6 days! I cant wait! I am changing my life forever! YAY!

My date is Feb. 9th.  I am having some of the same thoughts.  Did I make the correct decision?  Will i be the one that has serious complications?  But I have dome to realize that my complications if I DONT do this are much more serious.   I am resolved to be committed to this for the rest of my life and enjoy my new life.

You will be fine and we will all be here to help you get through it

It is perfectly normal to be a little bit nervous.  As long as you stick to the plan given you by the nut and the doctor you will achieve your goal and maintain it. It is when you get lax and start testing the waters that you will start to regain the weight. Just stay positive and focused and you will do fine.

Looks like we all have the same fears. I went to the "failed" board, and quickly exited. I agree that if we remain mindful, and focus on our strengths and successes, then the sacrifices will seem minimal. We are changing our lives forever...and longer.

You're not alone....perfectly normal and expected feelings and anxieties...but it will all go great!

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.
