I posted about this a couple of days ago, but I am really haveing a hard time with my eating.  I am trying to cut back and loose some more weight before my surgery date.  Everybody says it is better if you do.

I get up in the morning with the thought that I will drink protien shakes and a very small portions for supper, but by lunch I am starving and it is like I think I will never be able to eat again.   This is recidulous....I am normally much stronger than this when put my mind to something.

I am really embarrassed about it.   I really need some support to help me through this.

If someone else is having this trouble, maybe we can support each other through this.  Especially my 2-9-09 surgery date matches.

I really could use some tough love at this point.

Hey Cathy! Okay, I got your back...
I'm just starting my diet tomorrow. But, I have been here before. I can have either 5 shakes & 5 fruit/veggie OR 3 shakes 2 "lean cuisine" or the like, and 5 fruit/veggies.
I am going to try for the 5 shakes and then the veggies. I want as much protein as possible before surgery to aid with the healing process.

What I found helps is to get in a LARGE glass of water or Crystal Light before my first shake. I'm using the Slim Fast 10 grams protein.
Then mid morning another big glasss of water/crystal light before lunch.  If lunch time is the hard meal for you, you may want to see if you can have "real food" at lunch, and then your last shake at night.
Maybe if you have your light meal at mid afternoon, you won't be feeling so deprived.

However, here is where the tough love comes in:  You can do this. The inconvenience, cravings, feelings of depravation, they will all pass in a few months. So will high blood sugar, high cholesterol, and further damage to your heart.

So, a few months of feeling sorry for giving up and living? OR a few months of learning to live?

What's it gonna be??

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning in
Africa, a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

I am on this diet as well.... Yesterday was my frist successfull day! I had 1 shake for breakfast and a lean cousine for lunch and supper. I am a snacker, and it's hard. I refuse to go into my kitchen after dinner! My stomach was so hungry last night, I felt like vomiteing. I fliped on the Tv and started watching the biggest loser and Ruby's story!

It's so hard.... My surgery not being till Feb 19, I want to lose as much as I can! I can relate to your situation, o boy can I ever! I am hungry all the time, and its like i am starving!

Hey Cathy!  I was having this issue too, and my NUT told me to make sure to eat regularly throughout the day, every 2-3 hours.  My issue was skipping (forgetting, I work alone!) lunch and then being famished when I got home and overeating.

And don't forget, we will be able to eat again. Go to Eggface's blog or others to see the incredibly yummy stuff that is in our future.

To really keep each other accountable, maybe we could start a regular "what i ate/plan to eat today" post or something.

I am right there with you Cathy.  I started the protein shakes and a light supper on Sunday (jan4th) to get ready for my Feb 9th surgery!  I have been struggling  A LOT!!  Which was how I was feeling yesterday on my post about how you feel after surgery, 'cause even though I know I wouldnt, I felt like I was just going to die if I couldnt eat SOMETHING.!

I know its important to water in, which is hard for me as well, so i just have to grab a bottle and down it- it will fill your stomach for a while.  Thats about the only time I dont feel like I am starving..

ONE DAY AT A TIME, and just think that we will be getting some help with our struggle against this mess in 32 days!!  Thats right, 32 days!!!!!!!!!!!!  which is a whole heck of a lot better than months, or more.... right?!?!?!?!  We can do it...

Every protein shake, every bottle of water, just keep thinking... help is on the way.. we will have some help in this battle... It makes me excited to think about it..... k.. I am ready to kick some tale!! ha ha....
