Why? I just got off the phone with my surgeons offices. Confirming that i have completed all these test. I get so nervouse that I am going to forget  doing something, and its going to impact my surgery. My sister weighting less then me needed more test done.... How come I don't need a psychiatric consaultation, or a cardiac consaultation, alls I needed ever was labs, sleep lab and now I need to have a ekg 30 days before hand and new labs done 30 days before hand. What about a chest exray? I feel so overwhelmed right now!!!! like i am missing something. It was to easy for me and so hard for others.... urgggg

I'm really paranoid about missing something as well! They don't require a cardiac consultation unless there's a pre-existing condition or something shows up in your EKG. Same with the psychiatric consult... unless there's a history of major depression (or show symptoms of at the consult) they don't require it. I was surprised that I didn't have to have one when I've been on antidepressants a couple of times (once fairly recently). Don't be surprised if things don't get checked off in your tasks section, my friend just had her surgery and nothing showed up as being completed on there.

Age plays a role in testing as well as family history. I had the chest x-ray, EKG, all the lab works, and sleep study. The psychological consult consisted of a questionnaire sent by a social worker, whom I yet to hear back from. They scheduled  my surgery anyway. I think that when I let the social worker know I was a mental health practicioner she may have just put my questionnaire at the bottom of the barrel. Who knows.
You are doing great! Keep us posted and GOOD LUCK...it will be wonderful!

It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Thanks for the response, I guess your intake place a huge part as well!

I got a letter in the mail today...  I am a little upset and frustrated.

I did my sleep study in October 2008 in which i was told that i didnt have any sleep apena. However i had some shallow/paused breathing but nothing that effected my oxygen levels.

The letter I recieved today States that I have do another sleep study using a CPAP mask and this is scheduled for March 2.

Then I have a appt with the sleep medician physisian......

I waiting till 1 and I am making some phone calls. I hope this doesnt effect my surgery. And surly if it was that bad would they not have told me then and there? I was right there when the doctor was telling the guy across the room from me  that he had stoped breathing and what not. Urgggg I will keep you updated.
