Sounds like the "fear" of preparing for surgery is common. I'm really trying hard to re-frame "fear" into anticipation (same physiological responses to two very different emotions).  I've done the same thing...looked at my kids (19 and 14), and wondered if I'm doing the right thing. But I made a promise to my daughter that I intend to keep. So next November, I plan on teaching her how to body surf (without being mistaken for a great white...).

I haven't started any pre-surgical diet yet, however should be meeting/talking with my Nut. next week. BTW, my name is Kathy, and I'm a diet Pepsi/Coke addict. I've started to cut down. I'm at 2 cans per day now. Which is quite the improvement from 8 or 9. I don't drink coffee, and quit smoking on August 16th.  I'm slowly weaning off the soda and pulling in more of my Crystal  Light (hopefully that can stay after WLS, cuz I love the pomegranite flavor).

If you've researched your doc, and I'm sure everyone here has, then take a deep breath, visualize yourself even four months from now, and then jump in baby.  We all deserve it. We've made a huge committment here, for whatever our reasons, and I'm just really glad there are boards like this to offer and receive support.

It's going to be a great new year!

It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Hi Ceelions,

I know exactly what you mean.  I've been re-reading everything I've already read about the Lap RNY.  My date finally got here 2/9.  I have had more coffee in the last month that I can possibly even admit to.  I'm also a Dr Pepper drinker.  I am terrified too.  Thank you for admitting .that.

One of my main concerns is how in the world am I going to all of a sudden be able to chew food to liquid state every bite.  Not to mention so many changes.  I know we can and will do this.  God knows its taken us alot to get to this point.

Lets hope anticipation is the hardest part.  Please reply when you get a chance.
Take Care and know you absolutely are not alone.   Pam (prdurham)

OMG. I am such a diet Pepsi addict. I gave up smoking, alcohol, but not my diet pepsi. I guess a good thing is that I can drink it warm and flat too...it doesn't bother me. I really am an addict. Ick.
My RNY is 2/9. I haven't started the liquid diet yet, or the reduced cal diet yet, whichever they are going to put me on.  However now I'm picturing my slippery liver, and can't help but laugh. I don't want to see it sliding on the floor, and posted on youtube.

February is a very good month. I think we are all going to do wonderfully, and be posting updates like mad women!  I, for one, am looking forward to hearing from all of you. We can compare gas, farts, burps, vomit, and which  protein shakes we like best.  Sounds like a party to me!

Just wanted to say my surgery date is also on Feb. 17.  I am sure all will go well.  I think the thing I am worried about the most is staying on track after surgery.
