Hi Nancy, I do not know what time my surgery is yet. From what I have gathered I think we might find out at our pats appt. When is your appt?
My preop appt is Jan 26, will you be there then? YOu know I have pnomonia (spelling) I am hoping I don't have this problem after this. I haven't been feeling great right now but it is starting to loosen up. I'm so glad.  I live in London about 3 hours from the hospital. I am getting excited as the is getting closer.  Just think we have 58 more days to the big day. HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So to my new surgery buddy I'm so glad to find someone on the same day as me. Well take care and I hope to hear from you again. I will definately keep in touch.

Hi Sharon:

I am going for my pats on January 27th, but I have to be there for 8:15, so my sister and I are going to be there on the 26th and staying until the 28th.  She is going to have an initial consult on the 27th at 5:00.

I just spent 3 days at my sisters, and I am hoping that she will be able to have the surgery.  She has many, many health problems, and doesn't look after herself very well.  She wants to lose weight, but is still at the point where she doesn't want to give up her sugar (she is diabetic, and takes medication for it, but not insulin).  She loves popsicles, cake, candy corn (she has at least 5 pounds of it in a big jar), diet Coke, any kind of candy, chocolate, etc.  I've tried talking to her about it, and encouraging her, but she is stubborn, and not ready yet to make the change.

I am so over food right now!  I'm actually looking forward to not having to make any big decisions about what to eat for a month or two!

Talk to you soon,
Nancy

Hi Nancy, I a few problems with sweets as well. I know that after I will not be able to eat them and as surgery gets closer, I am going to start to definately cut back  as surgery is about 8 weeks away.  As far as exercising I can't right now, I have bad knees and can't walk anymore that 5 mins. before I am in pain with my back.  When I get back on my feet I will start slowly and get out of the house to walk.  I can do nothing right now I have pnomenia so I am not going out right now. I am going to give you my email address which is [email protected]. My appt is at 8:15 am as well. Yuck, we have to leave around 4:30 am to get there by 8 am. I look forward to meeting on the 10th of Feb. or the day or so afterwards.  I hope that we get to be in the same room. Wouldn't that be a coincedence.  Well not much else for now. Take care and talk to you later.

Hi Sharon,
My name is also Sharon and I live in Ajax.  My date is next Tuesday for RNY with Dr. Pop.  Have you been given a date as yet?  I wish I had discovered this website sooner.  It's nice seeing others in the same "boat" as me, which actually has had a calming effect on me.

Since I was advised today to be at the hospital at 11:00 a.m., my husband & I will drive down that day.  I have come to loathe that drive, all five hours of it.  I am looking for Barix Clinic buddies, to help share the driving, since my husband won't be able to accompany me after my surgury date.

I am a nurse and all I could think about bringing is things to prevent hospital acquired infections so I am bringing a set of sheets and chlorox wipes I plan to keep my poor sister busy. I agree I think we will be doing alot of  sleeping after the surgery.  I plan to add the robe and slippers to my list.
By the way I am having my RNY surgery February 10 th. Best of wishes for our joint new birthday!  Pat

Hello All,

I just signed onto this forum today. I am so excited - my surgery is February 11th at 8:00 AM, I check in at 6:35 AM.

I decided to buy myself some new nightgowns, undies, slippers and a leisure bra so the girls aren't flopping around while I'm recovering. I will be working until the day before my surgery so I am going to pack and get my hair cut, nails, eyebrows and a manicure done the weekend before so I won't have to worry with that before the surgery. I'm also getting my legs and underarms waxed so I won't have to fool with shaving for at least a week or two after the surgery.

My plan is to bring a book or two - if I can focus while I'm on pain meds and besides a deck of cards to play with my husband and daughter I'm not bringing a lot else. I like to pack light.

Well thought I would say hello - take care all!

Virgie

My worst day on a cruise ship is still better than my best day at work.
