I am off Sat. & Sun. and will get my fridge cleaned out. My hubby still has to have his sausage and biscuit so I can't throw that out. I am looking forward to a soft scrambled egg as my first real meal. Have you been fighting with your feelings lately? I don't know if it is the pre op diet or the realization that my life is changing forever. I am sort of mourning pig outs I guess! Good luck on Fat Tuesday and keep in touch.

My pre op diet consists of and optifast shake for breakfast and lunch and a light meal consisting of fish, chicken or lean meat and vegetables for diner. I was told to do this 2 weeks prior to surgery, but I thaught I'd start 1 week earlier, how ever I found that hard so I opted to do a shake for breakfast and a light lunch and diner. Now that I have settled on that and am feeling comfortable I will find it easier next week when I need to do the pre op diet consistently. I was told by a number of dieticians and weight loss consultants that chewing gum makes you hungrier and I've found it to be true. Thanx for the support.

I'm having my surgery on the same day... woo hoo. So I can't tell you what I'll like after surgery but for now I have been sampling protein waters all month, and the one I found that I like is, Stacker 2, lemonaide flavor with 20g of protein. Now if I'm able to get three of them down a day for the 1st 48 hours at home, I'll have hit my first target. Anyway I found it at Rite Aid in the diet and nutrition section for $1.99 a bottle. They have other flavors and they also have some with 45g of protein in the body building section, but it was way to thick, and I just couldn't get it down even after i diluted it. Anyway here's to successful surgeries and recoveries for us! Mary

Hello, you do not need much at the hospital. They have almost everything you need. I am taking some reading materials, personal hygiene things and a FAN...I can not sleep without it. I am going to take some PJ's with a tee shirt and slippers. You have to walk all day in the halls so after the catheter is out I am going to beg the nurse to feed the iv through my shirt for me. I think I will take my farvorite pillow. Since I know the beds are so unconfortable. I am taking my MP3 player to drowned out the noises and a headset for the tv. ui Good luck on the liquid fast. I am so wishing my Dr would allow fruit...I would be in heaven. I am on day 7 on my liquid fast. It is not fun and it is hard cooking for others while doing this. I made my son a ham sandwich today and the ham broke off before I got it out of the package. I was talking on the phone and before I knew it I had that small bit almost in my mouth. I stopped just short of tasting it.... BOY close call. Be strong the results are worth it. Good luck Shelly1

WOW...YOUR going to be just fine. I think when you get the date moving up like you did I finally became real... I had the same problems with my emotions all over. It passess in a day or so. Good luck with your liquid fast. You will do great. I have surgery on the 6th. I will be thinking of you while I am laying in the hospital. You will be on your way home in no time. In my thoughts and prayers.. Good luck shelly1

Hang in there. My headache got better after a few days. Are you allowed to have full liquids. Try to space your protein drinks every 4 hours and then drink clear liquid in between. I have a EAS protein drink in am, one at noon, soup cream of whatever as my meal protein. sugarfree pudding and at nine or so I have another protein drink. I supplement sugar free jello and crystle light inbetween. good luck it is hard. Add a yogurt for now until you really have to start the program.....Add some gum.

I know *exactly* how you feel. My surgery is in two days, on the 1st, and I just got my date 6 days ago. I'm not sure if these have been the longest 6 days of my life, or if I'm petrified and they're passing too fast!! You're gonna be just fine, and don't worry, you'll get everything all prepared they way it needs to be before it happens. Congrats on your upcoming date!!!

good luck to you. i am a fellow valentines day surfery goer. so do you have to do a liquid diet? i have to do 2 weeks. i also spent about $500, on books and materials and i dont know what else, but the hospital makes us all pay this universal fee thing. and then i had to buy special meds for after, like the vitamins and sugar free liquid tylenol, pain meds etc. so that put me up over $500. but thank goodness my husband has good insurance and it covers the whole surgery. 100%. well good luck.
