I just went to the doctor today for a check up. My regular surgeon is out due to having some knee surgery but his back up gave me a fill. He said my record showed I have a 10cc band in which the first fill they put me to 5cc's. But when he took it out he only got 2cc's. So never the less he puts me up to 6.5cc's and this is only my second fill. On my way back to work I start gagging and end up vomitting up the water I drank at the office. I get back to work, call them and go back in. Now he puts me at 4.5cc's. I can not even get my clear broth down! I am actually feeling a tightness that is very uncomfortable. Is this normal? I have not felt restriction before which tells me the original 5.00 cc's was a typo and I really must have only had the 2 cc's he took out before the new fill. I am very concerned and actually scared about how I feel. I was wondering if it will loosen up a bit after a day or two? I can not get back into to see him for a week and a half!

I think what I"m feeling is more of an excited nervousness . One minute I'm anxious and the next minute I'm calm and feeling ok. Today I feel calm and at peace. Interesting. My surgery was this past Tuesday and I was nervous until two days before. Then it was just very calm and in the moment. I'm a bit sore today (Friday, 3 days after) but haven't had any problems! One thing I did was ask my friends to pray or send positive thoughts about me. The calmness set in after that. I'm doing the same for you now! D.

Is it a scarey nervous or an excited nervous? My surgery isn't until the 21st and I wonder how I will feel when it gets that close. You will do just fine. Just focus on the good and you will be fine. Sandi

Check the insurance help board. All insurances are so different it's hard to know if your particular one will cover it or not. Start with your benefits administrator at work or whoever handles your insurance for the company. If they don't know, ask for a number to call your insurance to ask questions. Then when you get someone on the phone who can actually answer your questions, get them to send it to you in writing. I live over in Mobile...just a little east of you and at my surgeons office the lap band is $18,000 including a year of followup and fills. My sister self paid for her gastric bypass in Atlanta and she paid around $23,000-$25000. Those should be about the averages but you need to chcek with the doctor's in your area.
