Now that you've been home for a few days, how's it going? Walking and sipping? Make sure you get your water in. Let us know how things are going.

Topic: New to Lap Band surgery
Hi
I was wanting to get an actual person view that has had the Lap Band surgery. I out of Springfield Missouri and will probably have Dr Edwards. I have struggle with weight it seems my whole life but mostly the past 15-20 years. I am 38 and currently at 204 and 5'0, married and have 1 child(that is not responsible for weight gain, just muscle loss C-Section). But now it is a medical issue has I have a fatty liver, high cholesterol, blood sugar (taking metformin to regulate),blood pressure(taking blood pressure medicine), acid reflux, sleep problems, and just over all don't feel well and uncomfortable. I have had a sleep study done for sleep apnea but it was minor according to them(although I do not still sleep well). I have been on so many diet I can't remember but a few are Weigh****chers which I lost 20-30 pounds but did not keep it off,Atkins, and Low carb. I just physically don't feel well and can't do alot of activitys that I would like to be able to do.I am nervous about the risks of the surgery but I know that the Lord will look over me and whatever his will is is what I want. I just have to think of my family and worry that I have caused this and for something to happen to me and l not see my son grow up well you know. But anything that anyone is willing to share, I would appreciate it. I really am glad for this forum and friends to share with.
Topic: RE: Hello!
Hi,
I know what you mean about the last bad meal. I kind of had a last bad month. I gained 14 pounds when I went to the therapist (my highest weight at 294). That kind of through me over the edge, so I have been pretty serious since then about my food. I lost 9 pounds when I went for my visit with the surgeon. I have a date for surgery - April 1. Finally. Where are you having your surgery? I'm having it a Beth Israel in Boston, Mass by Dr. Jones. It is kind of scary but exciting at the same time. Wish you loads of luck. Keep me posted.

Day four wasn't too bad. I tend to get REALLY hungry around time to get off work. Good thing is that I don't have to do any cooking for my family. They are on their own (just husband and MIL). I come home and usually have some broth (warm stuff seems to satisfy and fill me up), a crystal light and a sf jello. Later on before bedtime (yeah, I'm a night snacker), I will have more jello and a sf popsicle. I find that I need to consume something about everything three hours or so to keep the stomach from growling. Overall, I think I am doing good. Better than I expected actually. It sucks but isn't killing me like I was sure it would.

I'm on day 7 of my liquids. It's not bad. I'm allowed cream soups as long as I strain them and make them with skim milk. That helps a bit. Protein shakes keep the hunger at bay. I have to go clear liquids 2 days before surgery. Not looking forward to that one!! I hate the liquid diet, but I know it's not forever. I've been looking up recipes for when I can eat real food again. My husband says I'm torturing myself, but it passes the time and reminds me why I'm doing this.
This time next week we'll be in the hospital!! Never thought I would be happy to say that! LOL
