Topic: 6 month wlp
Hello. This is one of my first post. I am a little irritated but I guess I will deal as I am sure all of you have had to deal. I have got to be put on a medically supervised weight loss plan before I can have my surgery approved. Have to go in every month for a followup. Do they know how hard this is for single working people who have children? Not to mention you have to pay a copay every time you go into the dr. Any suggestions out there? My insurance is BSBS TRS. I want to try and get this done by June or July while I am off work....I have been on so many diet programs but of course none of them were supervised. I just feel like people who are overweight get the run around alot. Does anyone agree with me.
Sorry to sound like I am *****ing but it is frustrating or is it just me?
I will stop griping now and just wait for your opininions or suggestions....thanks

18 lbs down!!!!! That's terrific. And it's only the beginning. I can't wait until my clothes start getting all baggy and I start seeing the proof that the weight is melting away. I know you are excited about such a great loss in such a short time. Keep it up!

You have to do what it right for you and not let input from others who have not walked in your shoes matter. This is YOUR life. We put our faith in God every day when we get out of bed and go about our day so who is this person to invoke God's name when it comes to having surgery. Don't let negativity drag you down. Take a positve attitude and have faith that God will carry you through this. If this surgery is meant to be, then it will be. Otherwise, obstacles will be placed in your way. Please don't let this person bring you down just because they are uneducated about weight loss surgery. There will always be at least one person in every crowd like that and you just have to say thanks for your opinion but this is my life.

If you know in your own heart that this is the right decision than, go for it. Does your surgeon have any support group meeting you can go to? If so, perhaps invite you friend to go with you so she can learn more about the surgery before judging it, you or your faith in God. Or bring your friend to meet your doctor and let him speak to her. When I made my decision, I didn't share it with many people (but in a big family word travels fast) I knew in my heart it was the right choice for me, but didn't want to get into a debate about the risks involved. I simply told people that I was just researching it for now, and didn't really want to discuss it further. Once they understood from my non-verbal cues that I wasn't going to give them any more than I wanted to share, they backed off. Now that the surgery is all said and done, the same people who were skeptical, are very supportive. I still have one relative that cant stop asking me questions or shooting negative comments. I know realize it's her own insecurities that she's projecting on to me. I just have to shrug it off and hope she can come to terms with her own self. Good Luck! It was the best thing I ever did for myself.
Topic: RE: Anyone else on a liquid diet pre-op? Share your experience
I had to do a liquid diet 2 wks prior and 4 wks after surgery. Like you I found that anything warm helped me out. Also SF fudgicles and popsicles got me through the rough spots. Otherwise I was also surprised at how well I did during that time. (I think I was successfull because I knew I was jepardizing my surgery if I failed). I had gastric bypass on Sept 10, 2007.
You sound like you're on the right track. Keep it up, it's worth it in the end! Good Luck!
