Topic: RE: 24 lbs down
Hi Angela,
Congratulation on your weight loss. I had my surgery on 2/4 and also had the drain on. And it did hurt alot, i remember feeling like everything inside was going to come out. It is the most disgusting feeling ever.
I've lost 27lbs and i feel marvelous. Continue the good work , i know it can be hard sometimes but it is all GOOD.
God bless you,
Miriam

Tricky situation. Sometimes insurers make you do the pre surgery diets to get you under the BMI that qualifies you. Then, you would have to pay for it yourself. Or, they want to make sure that you can follow through with the weight loss after surgery. If you are a "bad risk" then they wont approve you. (you dont lose enough).I suggest you investigate and try to find out the EXACT qualifications from the insurer, and see if anyone that has the same plan has had surgery and what there weight loss was pre-surgery. I know its frustrating, but hopefully it all works out.
Topic: I Finally Have a Date! :-)
Going for my RNY at King's Daughter's Medical Center in Ashland, KY Monday February 25, 2008. I will receive my arrival time on Friday afternoon.
I am very excited. Anyone else from the KY / OH area?
Topic: RE: Only 1 week away!!
I'm also 1 week away (feb 25th) and also super duper excited (with a dash of crazy nerves thrown in).
My job is not physcial (i'm a computer potato)...but I also commute 45min to an hour each way via express bus (from NJ to manhattan). I'm taking 3 weeks off.
What I did was go to H/R to get the short term disability paperwork & then fax it to my doctor, who filled it out & sent it back to my doctor. What is nice is that none of my time off is being counted as "sick or vacation" time - it's all being booked towards s/t disabilty at FULL PAY!

Topic: RE: 6 Days Away
Hi Lynn,
I'm also 6 days away (feb 25th)...and I keep going back & forth - one minute I'm crazy excited & the next scared to death. Its normal to be scared & nervous. Personally, I've never had surgery - so having the endoscopy was the first time I've ever been in the hospital under anthsetia.
I have both set of support - most of my friends/family are there for me BUT I do have 1 friend that has beaten me down. She keeps telling me I'm making the biggest mistake. Also my husband has let me know that although he'll support me, he isnt happy i'm having this surgery.
I'll keep you in my thoghts & add you as a friend
