Topic: RE: Anyone in the Dayton, Ohio area?
Well, hey ... another Buckeye, though! I saw some of your other threads. Congrats on all the weight loss to date!
I am headed in for surgery on this coming Tuesday. Suddenly, I have a few nerves, but I'm mostly excited.
In your experience, what's been the good, bad & ugly so far??
Topic: RE: Looking for a 2/26 Surgery Date Buddy :-)
You know ... all of the sudden, I AM nervous. Kinda like pre-wedding jitters. I went all this time with no nerves at all, and then suddenly, here they are! It seems all of the sudden everyone I tell about my surgery knows of some horror story about someone else who had it (they died, they had serious complications, etc). I just keep reminding myself that I could just as easily die by NOT having it, and then I just seem to get excited again.
How about you? What do you think the hardest change/adjustment will be?
Topic: RE: WHY DO I NEED A FILTER ?
Edmund is right about number 1 and it being because the doc doesn't want you know have and blood clots break loose which could possibly kill you. and I know that my doc had me do an upper gi exam x-rays and blood work to make sure that there isn't anything wrong along with making sure that it will be an easy surgery so that there isn't anything up for suprises. I hope that helps. and don't be nervous you'll do great

Topic: RE: My Date is 2-29
Hi,
I have the same surgery date. I will be having it in NY State. I live in Ontario Canada.
Yes it is normal to be very nervous or scared before surgery. I know I am but I find talking to lots of people helps me. I am still learning and reading about my surgery to. Just to keep my mind busy. I am really wanting this and want the day to come faster but I am nervous too. You will be ok.
Topic: RE: WHY DO I NEED A FILTER ?
Hello,
I don't know what your doctor does on his pre-adminsion test but most run blood test and get family and personal history's. just trying to find out if there is anything that may cause a problem during surgery.
The filter is because the doctor is concerned that you may get blood clots during or after the surgery. The filter will help stop the clot before it becomes a problem.
Hope that helps you. Take care

Topic: RE: BCBS is approving now!!!
Hey Martha Lynn-
I came accross your post and noticed that the BCBS is approving now???
Is this the Blue Cross Blue Shield?? Just checking for sure because I have been struggling for like the past 2 years trying to find a way to pay for the procedure and I was curious if this is correct, do you happen to have any tips for me as far as getting approved by BCBS? My PCP will and has gladly given me referrals so I guess any help you could provide would be sooo gratefully appreciated! I am hoping to have the gastric bypass but I see you've gone for the lap band right??
Well congrats on getting your day and I wish you nothing but the best of luck throughout your operation!
Thank you for your time!
God Bless
Megan
