Topic: Home from Thurday's surgery
Can't believe it...I'm on the losers side after waiting soooo long. The acutal day of the surgery was a blur. My husband tells me all these things I did but I don't remember (like get our of the bed in recovery and walk). The nurses at my hospital get an A+ for compassionate care. Yesterday I walked and sipped and sipped and walked. When I got my meals it was so funny. An ounce of broth, an ouce of dc tea and ouce of lemonad and an ounce of sf jello. Just a timy amount of food. Not that I was (or am) hungry. I went down for a UGI yesterday morning for my leak test. The barium was particularly nasty since I hadn't had any food yet.
But I am doing good. Working the program and doing what I am suuposed to be doing. The gas part seems to be taking care of itself thankfully so no problems there.

I have surgery on the 29th also! Good wishes to all my leap year surgery buddies!
I am stressing too, especially because today I woke up with a cold! But I am also very excited. Totally broke down when I had my hospital pre-testing last week though!
I guess it really hit me.
Oh well!
Topic: 10 days post op-am I weird?
First, I feel crappy, not bad, not good...just "off".
I get in my liquids, I am getting 50-60 grams of protein but nothing bothers me. I have no gas. I have eaten on bite of pizza (yes, I know, I know) and it didn't bother me.
My scale has been stuck on 199 for three days (I am down 12 in all), and no I have never lost 12 pounds in a 10 days before.
Any thoughts?

Hi surgery buddies!
Im scheduled for RNY on 2/29 as well! Im amazingly calm currently. I was a wreck last week, but I just think "what's the alternative?" and that helps put everything back into perspective. I have also prayed and prayed for courage and peace about my decision and I believe God has answered my (and my family's) prayers.
I wish you all the best of luck and that God may grant you peace and courage as well in your life changing decision.
Topic: RE: surgery date 2/26
Hi, Linda! I'm also scheduled for 2/26. What pre-op diet are you on? Mine is low-fat. BTW, look for another thread I started for those of use with surgeries scheduled for 2/26. We surgery buddies gotta stick together!

I'm also on the 26th, but I'm in the Monterey, CA area! I can't wait!

Uggg ... that DOES suck. I don't have to do that. Just low-fat in general. So sorry YOU have to!
Topic: RE: Looking for a 2/26 Surgery Date Buddy :-)
It's a low fat low carb diet. It's only about 600 calories and is shakes and bars. So I'm hungry most of the time!
Topic: RE: Anyone else on a liquid diet pre-op? Share your experience
I have been on the liver shrinking diet for a week and a half. I have a great deal of problems with it. I have been light headed several times and have gotten ill twice. I think the sugar may be to much in the slim fast drinks. I have actually felt better skipping the slimfast at lunch. I have also had to eat more vegtables and an extra piece of fruit from time to time. Surgery date is 2/26. I am nervous but excited.
Does anyone know if it makes a difference (the diet) if it is an open vs. laproscopic procedure??
