Topic: Irrational Fears - RNYGP, but no Weight Loss?
Is there anyone out there who had the (irrational?) fear that they wouldn't lose weight after this procedure? I'm one week post-op and find myself thinking, "What if this doesn't work?" I wonder if it's because there are no hunger pangs and/or because I can eat what I can eat (as opposed to "good / bad" foods). Did any of you have this fear? Thanks People!! Evie2 in CA

I've never read of shoulder and headache pain after WLS, but you may want to mention it to your surgeon just in case. Sandi 2/21/08

Topic: Headaches Post Op
Did anyone get headaches or shoulder pain post operatively? I had my surg on the 26th of Feb and have had pretty persistent shoulder and head pain. Seems to be getting better as days progress. ANy ideas what would cause that?

Me neither. I have the Unjury, I do agree it tastes better however, I can't get passed the smell. Having a hard time getting the protein down too.

Prior to surgery for one month I was on Opti Fast protein shakes, soups and bars through Summa Bariatric in Akron. The day before surgery and 3 days following I was on clear liquids, fat free jello, fat free popsicles. For the next two weeks I have to follow the same plan but I can now add cream soups as long as I strain them. I've found the hardest part of cream based soups is finding soups that are low sodium. There are a few other things I can have but until my stomach heals there is not a lot of things I am able to have. Unlike your surgery mine was uneventful even though it involved repair of two hernias. The center I went through for my surgery gave me a list of different protein supplements as well as their protein content. Hopefully you will begin to feel better soon and your taste buds will kick in so that you can enjoy a bigger variety of protein shakes.

Well yesterday I contacted my Dr. and he was concerned. Told me to get legs ultrasounded. I did and also did EKG, XRAy, CT scan, blood work up and everything came out ok. So now what? I am pushing the walking and water. My surgery went well and all with that is healing great, Just this water retention.

I Tracey, I just noticed your post, only wished i'd seen it before. First, I hope you ultimately made the decision that was right for you. Second, I too am a Born Again christian facing weight loss surgery decisions. But, truly had already made my decision. Because of my food weakness I became over weight years ago. But I recently began to take responsibility for my sin and for making such a diaster of this body He trusted me with. After seeking and receiving forgiveness I felt He lead me to WLS. Like many have already said, it's all about what He has spoken to your heart. BE BLESSED

I am using the pre-op liquid diet from Bariatric Advantage on my first day of discharge from a complicated surgery. I was afraid to try anything because post-surgery, nothing seemed to taste good, but the strawberry tasted as good and went down easy, a little too easy. I am using a timer and making sure I take breaks between sips.
