Topic: Feeling like the weight isn't coming off fast enough.....
I had my surgery Feb. 20th....talk about life changing event!
I have thrown up like 6 times. I eat maybe three or four fork or spoon fuls of food and I'm totally miserable. I have lost aprox. 24 lbs and I feel like I should have lost more.
My workout starts this week...now that I'm able to move around better. Not sure if I will lose more but I'm hoping to reach my goal before the end of the year. Before surgery I weighed in at 252 and I'm hoping to have lose 100 lbs total. I sure hope I made the right choice.

Hello,
I had my RNY on 02/13/08 and feel great. I went back to work March 3rd (2 1/2 wks later) I also had to change my blood pressure medication taking 1/2 and feel 100% better and not getting dizzy. My biggest complaint is constipation, but the office told me to take Colace which I will get tonight.
I assume you are drinking enough water, I do not eat any carbs (most days) and stick maily with protein and have tried a shake or two but right now trying to get my protein from food.
Are you eating 3 meals a day? I have veggies at night - butternut squash is my new best friend and believe it or not cabbage tastes good to me.
I have lost 33 since the surgery and 32 prior to that on Medifast (starting 01/05).
Keep up the good work, it is not the easy way out that is for sure.
Keep in touch.
Michelle

Thanks Sandi! I feel a little better. I went to the doc and he told me to half the high blood pressure meds as my pressure was too low...so that is a good thing! Then he took blood work to make sure I am okay otherwise.
I have a missions trip on 4/4 to El Salvador I need to be READY for...praying for daily improvement!

Feeling any better? It's been almost a week now and I have been thinking about you and wondering if you were feeling any better. Keep us posted.

I am almost 4 weeks out and feel great too. I did get the flu last week and couldn't keep anything down ... got dehydrated QUICK and had to be hospitalized to get some fluids. Other than that, I have had a great experience. I am finding I need a little more sleep and definitely feel like I could take a nap sometime (and sometimes I do).
Go easy on yourself and take it at your own pace!
BTW, what diet phase are you on now? My doc starts soft food phase on Day 3, and I've been wondering if that's why I bounced back pretty quickly?

Hi I'm Lisa I am 5 weeks out and I feel great! I went back to work on my 6th day after surgery. I feel like I have more energy then I did before surgery, off most of my meds. I get my protein drinks in and get at least 70 gm of protein a day I am down 30 pounds since surgery and 65 total pounds with the pre op diet. I love this tool!

Overeaters anonymous may be helpful. They will help you stick to whatever your nutrionist or MD recommends. 111lbs is very significant weight loss, what was your goal you made with your MD? If you are working full-time and going to school full-time you are not making excuses, you are most likely overloaded and adding exercise may be futile under these cir****tances. I wonder if you are expecting too much of yourself. When I was doing full-time work and part-time grad school, I was swamped and had no time for exercise. I decided just to work and my exercise routine fell into place until I had surgery 2/25/08. I am trying to resume gentle activities now, but find I get very sore after walking and need to be regular but have lower expectations for what I can do.

Applesauce is a great medium for swallowing pills. I don't crush them, but if they are big I use a pill cutter. I can put up to 3 pill halves on a teaspoon of applesauce and they slide right down. I try and get Mussleman's with splenda (very low sugar). I still use the shakes from the pre-surgery liquid diet (med-lab) to make sure I get enough protein. You can use them with milk or soy, whichever is easier to tolerate. Just some thoughts to help with the pills and protein. I am struggling to get all my calcium citrate supplements in. Since I have acid trouble in digestion, I am taking calcium carbonate (antacid) in addition to 1 of my calcium citrate.

I am struggling somewhat. I had two surgeries (2/20 and 2/25) because my anatomy was not what the surgeon expected. I've recovered well in many ways, but in some ways, my acid reflux seems to be worse. In spite of medication, I seem to have acidic digestion (small intestine?) and some reflux. This, of course feels lousy, since I have this all my waking hours and seems worse after eating. I am eating soft foods 3 + weeks out. I have lost 36lbs since surgery which is very good. I'd just like to feel better. In addition, walking tends to make my lower abdominals very sore, diminishing my desire to be active.
Topic: RE: How's everyone doing?
well it's been about 5 weeks since my surgery I've been doing pretty good on everything for the most part. The only thing I'm having a problem with is taking my vitamins. otherwise I'm doing really good I know you all know that I lost 24 lbs. in the first week and according to the scale I hae at school I'm lost another 19 lbs. for a grand total of 43 lbs already!! GOD it's gone so quickly and I'm sooooo happy too!! I also started back to work 1 1/2 after having my surgery done and I've been doing fantastic with no pain gas or anything....
I'm sooo happy that everyone is doing fairly well since our surgeries!!!
YAY!!! WE'RE ALL ON THE LOSER'S BENCH AND WE'RE ON OUR WAY!!!!
