Topic: RE: STILL STALLING FOR OVER 4 WEEKS????
I get scared that I too much food at times too. But I think it may be the density of the food that makes some things easier to go down. I can eat a whole Lean Cuisine at lunch to depending on the dish. Somedays I feel like I am hungry all day and some days I have to force myself to eat. It makes no sense to me. We are probably still healing. I find it is hard to get all the protein in and all the fluid in. If I eat I am to full to drink and vice versa. Since I cannot tolerate most protein drinks I tend to choose the food since I do not want to miss out on the protein. That is my biggest hurdle right now. After reading other posts from people who had WLS around the same date as us it seems like others are hitting long stalls at the same time. Maybe it is just the natural progress. Good luck and keep me posted too.

thanks to you both for your replies. I finally lost ONE pound!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited, and hope this continues. Even if it's one or two pounds a week, I can deal with that as long as I keep moving.....I did try the adkins protien shake today. A friend at work had grabbed one and I tried a sip. It was a little more watered down than the rest of the shakes I have tried. So I'm going to go get a couple and see if I can tollerate them..... One other question. I am curious as to how much you guys can eat now. It seems as though I can eat quite a bit more at lunch time, and hardly anthing at dinner. I can finish a lean cuisine or weigh****chers meal at lunch....Is this too much? It does take me a full half an hour to finish. but they have almost 15 to 20grams of protien...Seems as though once I get home for dinner, it's just a few bites, and a small snack before bed. but these meals at lunch are scaring me, I don't want to stretch my pouch. hopefully its not too late...please keep me posted. thanks !!

I am also just getting over a stall and it scared me to think that might be all I would lose but just this week I have lost 2.8 lbs.I had my surgery on Feb. 18 and have lost 92lbs,but I started at 323lbs. I added a lot of water but like you I am not able to drink the protein shakes. I have started making my own out of 1 raw egg mixed with 6oz. milk 4 pks sugar sub. and a little bit of vanilla I also add nutmeg sometimes. It tastes like a vanilla shake. Some people are scared of the raw egg but my family doctor said that it should be ok as long as they are kept in the frig and are fresh. Good luck.

I am just getting over a stall that was just about as long and I also did not loose too much the month before. I was concerned also that this was it, but then I have lost another 6 lbs in the past 2 weeks. I am down 85lbs as well. I am not able to tolerate most protein drinks I have tried, but found that the Nectar brand Ice Tea flavor tastes ok and does not get me sick. I use Slim Fast High Protein bar 15 grams protein as meal replacement or to get in some extra protein. Other brands I have tried make me sick like the shakes. I recently tried Isopure Alpine Punch which was pretty good , but to expensive to have everyday. My hair was falling out alot, strangely during the stall, now it has slowed down. I took purchased the Biotin, but did not take it everyday so I cannot tell you if it helped. I did get a decent haircut and a good conditioner to try to prevent the loss. Great job on your exercsie, I was doing good, I had physical therapy for an injury for about 18 weeks post op- unfortunatley I don't seem to get much in since then. I did get Wii Fit which is fun, but I need to be alone to get a real workout on it. Good luck, hopefully you are at the end of this stall.

Topic: STILL STALLING FOR OVER 4 WEEKS????
I had my surgery on feb 13th, and I have been at a stall for over four weeks. Last month I only lost 7 pounds, and now nothing for over four weeks. I am so dissapointed. I walk every single day, am up to 2/3miles every morning. I am finally going to start some weight training today and pray to god this works. I am just posting to see if anyone else around my surgery day is at this long of a stall as well. I still need to lose another 70lbs, and I'm getting scared that I'm done. I know the stalls take time to get past, but four weeks....eeek!!! I drink plenty of water, and try desperatly to get in my protien. but I simply can not stand any of the protien shakes or bars. I have also started taking the biotin pills as of yesterday for my major hair loss. I saw on the lable these pills are supposed to help with your metabolism as well. I have my fingers crossed. total loss to date 85lbs .....Please update with your progress, I'm very interested to compare. have a great day!

Topic: RE: My doctor said that I wasn't losing as much weight as I should be!
OMG! I can't believe he would say that to you! How rude! Some doctor's have no bed side manners AT ALL! Don't you dare feel down and beat yourself up! I too had problems keeping my food down. Your weight loss will come in due time. All of our bodies are different. It doesn't matter what our chemistry make up is- WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT. My advice to you and I am speaking from growing pains is to up your protein. Sean (my angel) shared that secret with me and it works. When I had my WLS (Feb 20th) I was 260 and I'm down to 192- I thought the weight wasn't falling off as needed. But after meeting with my doctor he said I was where I needed to be. So, again up your protein whether it's shakes or meat and I promise you will see results. I noticed you said you can just start to tolerate meats, try going to Smoothie King if there is one in your area and ask for the highest protein shake- but beware of the calorie content. And please keep your head up and remember you are the person that have to live for you. Don't let what others say get you down. T. Racheal

Thank you. I will increase my protein and see if that helps. I will start doing the shakes - I did stop those- so maybe it will help. But, I have to ask - what is the 5 day pouch test- never heard of it? Your weight loss is great- an exercise program is a hard thing to get into- because of so many things- but once you do- you will love it- I admit right now I am just walking and I am going to get into some weights for strengthing my arms and legs ( you would think my legs would have great muscle from carrying all that weight- not) because I have no muscle tone or strength. Thanks so much for your response. I feel better now.

Sounds like somebody's Dr's got up on the wrong side of the bed. That wasn't a very nice thing to say to someone. So, maybe you haven't lost as much as HE would have liked for you to lose, but you HAVE lost a lot of weight. I am concerned that my Dr. is going to say the same thing to me next month. I have to admit that I haven't started an exercise program, which I know would help me lose more/faster. It's one of those lifestyle changes I know I have to make, yet continue to resist. Are you getting in all your protein? Are you following the 2:1 ratio for protein to carbs? I find that when I increase my protein and water and decrease the carbs, I lose more weight. Carbs are my downfall. But I am learning to just say no to them. I drink 2 protein shakes a day to make sure I get it all in. Have you tried the 5 day pouch test to get things moving again? I hear it helps jump start losses for a lot of people that aren't losing as much. Just take a realistic look at what you are eating and if there are any changes that you can make. If you are already working it as best you can, then maybe you are just a slower loser. There's nothing wrong with that. I wonder myself how much I should have lost by now too. I started at 258 and am now at 183. That's 75 lbs loss in almost 5 months. I personally think that's good, but I know there are things I "could" have done (or not done) that would have made that number higher. But I am still happy with my 75 lbs loss. Don't let his comments weigh on you too much. You are still much lighter than when you started. You are a wonderful person and didn't deserve such callous comments. Sandi 2/21/08 258/183/130

Topic: My doctor said that I wasn't losing as much weight as I should be!
I feel frustrated and confused. My doctor said I wasn't losing weight as fast as I should be - my highest weight was 307 I am 5'1 1/2 inches tall- and now I weigh 245. My surgery date was 02/04/08. I just started being able to eat meat again-that wasn't shaved deli thin- or else I would get sick and couldn't keep it down. I still have trouuble with some things- but all in all I watch what I eat and eat small portions and I eat slow- - He did not provide me with any helpful tips - just stated that I was big to begin with and that I would always be obese- I want to cry- I went through all of this to get healthy- What can I do to lose the proper amount of weight-? What should I have lost-? I am more active now than I have been in years- Any suggestions would help- thanks

Topic: RE: I'm at a standstill
Hi all feb losers, It's funny I read and read on here and never post. But now I need help.....I like everyone else it seems am at a stand still too. I have only lost 5 lbs in the last month. I thought at this point we should be losing 10lbs a month. Am I wrong with that???? I walk every single day. Some days I walk more than others. I have tried to increase my food intake, but that only makes me feel worse and guilty. I know I'm having a problem with protien. I CAN'T STAND any protien bars, or shakes..so those are completely out of the question. I don't like eggs or cottage cheese either. any suggestions???? I am gone for over 9 hours a day so I'm looking for help on high protien items I can have for snake time. (besides yogurt) I'm doing that already. I think I'm only getting about 30gms of protien a day............Please don't get me wrong. I am down 83lbs which I am very proud of, but I need to lose another 70....Everyone says this stand still will break, but when?? Does this last for months then just break?? I need encouragement. Oh yes, and I do drink tons of water. HAPPY HUMP DAY EVERYONE!!
