Well, I have been soooooo bad and have not been on the forum's for a really long time--I forgot how fun and helpful they can be when no one understands what you are experiencing.  I had my surgery February 22 and have lost 112 lbs so far.  I started at 315 and am now down to 203.  I am hoping to get down below 200 before my birthday next Friday--that would be the greatest birthday present ever!!!!  I think that it is so exciting that you went sky diving--to celebrate my new life and what I did for myself by having the surgery, I got a tattoo...now it's low on the back of my neck where no one can see it but me, but for me this was a very bold move.

But I understand about your being stuck on and off...I have been stuck for the last week and a half as well.  I was going to see what you guys are eating and if anyone had any ideas for getting the ball rolling again.

Thanks so much Chris.  Yep, that bread is a nasty one.  I was a complete carboholic before surgery and I DO miss it but I am glad it makes me feel yucky....aversion therapy.  Tell Dennis he is doing great and to keep up the good work.

Thanks Michelle

He also feels he doesn't need pasta but he also LOVES bread.  But right now he is going to keep it out for awhile. He has been very fortunate in that up to this point NOTHING has made him sick.  Since he stopped the bread and grains he has stopped being sick.

we loved the video - congrats on your success and courage!

Hi Chris (and Dennis).  I too have some intolerances.  I don't plan on ever eating pasta again so haven't introduced that but I do still get sick from certain breads and whole grains.  A lot depends on how much of it I eat and how dry it is....the most toasted and dry it is, the easier it is to eat.  For me any form of solid protein (meats, fish etc) sit very hard in my pouch and I can't tolerate having too much of it (although it doesn't come back up either).  I think some of the problem is knowing exactly  how much of something you can have and then stopping before you get to the point where you will get sick.  Dennis might want to try some softer proteins for awhile and forget the bread and pasta for now.  Pasta really doesn't have anything in it that our body truly needs and bread is similar (although I love it)  How about a high protein, sugar free yogurt with some high protein cereal?  How about some soy crisps (dangerous for me because they are TOO easy to eat).  One of my favorite things to get is the Starbucks Spinach Feta Egg wrap.  It is low in calories (250) and yummy.  Three months ago I could probably only eat 1/4 of it.  Now, if I eat slowly I can eat the entire wrap and it fills me up for hours.  It all takes time and experimenting.

Best of luck,

Michelle

I guess most people don't have   (the same type of problems )since no one has answered.  I think we have realized that it is the whole wheat and whole grain.  No matter what it is he can't keep it down so we have eliminated this from meals for now.
I was hoping that maybe it was a tolerance type thing.  I am in the process of submitting my paperwork to the insurance company so I hope that I am next.  I am trying to learn as much as possible through his problems so that I can help him and hope to keep my problems with food issues at a minimum. (Although after reading all of the forums, it is going to be unique to me).

Anyway, thanks for reading ths.

I love the new picture of you skydiving.  I don't think I could ever do that.  Not without wearing a depend...lol.  Zip-lining will be enough for me, since I have a terrible fear of heights.  I figure if my 8 and 11 yo neice and nephew can do it, I surely can too.  Due to weight restrictions, previously this was something that I wouldn't have been able to do, but now at my current weight, I easily meet their weight requirements and will weigh even less by the time I get there.

Don't you just feel great?  I love shopping again now that I can wear "normal" sizes.  It opens up so many more options and I swear, it seems the clothes are cuter and less expensive than the plus sizes were.

Take care everyone and keep posting!

Sandi

Congrats on the weight loss!!!!  That is awsome.

Have fun on your cruise.  We went to the caribbean just before I had surgery and had a great time but I fear that cruises might not be on my agenda anymore.....just too many temptations.  It is great that you are able to do it,though, and make good choices.

Congrats on  your 70 lbs loss!  And in a size 12....woo hoo!  I have lost a total of 88 lbs and have gone from a size 22 (2x) to a size 14 (Large).  I would like to lose another 30-50 lbs, hopefully before my cruise in February.  (I can't buy clothes yet for the cruise because I have no idea what size I will be wearing by then...hopefully a 10 at least).  I have been stuck at 170 for about 10 days now so I hope that breaks soon.  My hair loss has really slowed down, but is still coming out a little.  My hairdresser said she could see the new growth so at least its coming back in.  I still haven't started exercising and I KNOW I should, but I just loathe exercising.  I feel great.  My support group is doing the Walk From Obesity in Pensacola, FL on Oct 4th.  I hope I can do all three miles...lol.  I'm looking forward to it.

It's been awhile since I have written for my husband Dennis and we have a question.
He just had his 6 month appt. last week and has lost 90 pounds.
After this appt. he now can eat whole grain breads and pastas and fruit.  He hasn't tried fruit but seems that the whole grain pasta and whole grain bread (very very small amounts) are coming right back up.  He now seems to be getting sick alot from everything.  He doesn't eat meat. only fish and chicken and vegetables.  It was only 2 tries of bread and 1 try of pasta.
Now nothing is staying down and he is very weak.  Anyone have any thoughts on this?  He is restarting some protein drinks to get some energy and if it continues we will contact the doc.  Just wanted to see if anyone went through something else.

Hello from Hong Kong,

Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy operation on Feb 25 here in Hong Kong where I emigrated to 20+ years ago, down 111 pounds so far.

Initially losing 1 pound/day for almost 2 months, it's slowed down to about 2 pounds/week now. It's definitely getting tougher to keep up the exercise (gym, biking, walking) and some hunger feelings are returning now. As my intestines haven't been changed - stomach reduction only - I can eat and drink almost anything again and have no lasting side effects besides a vastly improved health, losing most of my "obesity-related co-morbidities.

Another 55 pounds to lose, going from Super Morbidly Obese (lovely term, isn't it?) to a mere Overweight in BMI terms, I hope. 2 of my 3 brothers and a sister-in-law also had different weight loss surgeries in Europe and are mostly doing pretty well so far, up to 6 years later.
