Feeling like the weight isn't coming off fast enough.....
I had surgery 2/22/08 and have lost 40 lbs. I lost 25 in the first two weeks, and only 15 in the 3 1/2 weeks since then. I know how you feel, I'm working out all the time and watching everything that goes into my mouth. But, when I asked my friend who is 2 years post op, she looked in her diary and saw that I am at the exact same place as her when she was at this point, and she has now lost 160 lbs. So, I think that we are all normal if it makes you feel better.
You are soooo not alone in this Racheal! For my 2 week liquid diet (actually 12 days) I lost 18lbs. Since my surgery on Feb 27th, I've only lost 15lbs : - (
While I'm like most other posters here, with the excessive vomitting, I just didn't see the major weight loss I expected. Now with week 5 coming up tomorrow, I feel so disappointed in my progress. Whereas I don't "see" the 33lb loss, I'm now in a size 18 pants versus the 26's I was in on Valentines Day. So I guess I'm technically losing the weight, I just don't see the changes yet and was I guess hoping for more visible and/or drastic loss.
I had my surgery 2-12-08...I have lost 30 pounds, but zero in the last 2 weeks. I am trying to drink more water, but it's hard. Luckily I have not thrown up at all...and I feel FABULOUS...like I never even had surgery. I am just trying to be patient thru this stall. I think all of our previous disappointment with diets not working makes us suspicious that this too may not work. We have been thru a lot to get to this point...we need to just hang in there...support each other and ride this out! Yep...that is what I keep telling myself OVER AND OVER!

Hi Racheal - I'm glad you posted this for us FEB FOLKS. My RNY was on 2/25 & I get very fustrated seeing tickers that say the person has lost 40-50 lbs in 6 weeks. I'm 6.5 weeks now & just lost 27 lbs. I'm eating properly, I think, I'm drinking as much water as I can....but I haven't begun working out. Hoepfully once I join a gym & get some cardio in the weight will kick start again. Now I have to get my butt to the gym!
You are losing fast since your post and surgery you have lost on the average of a pound a day. That is not too shabby. Also keep in mind as you start exercising you will lose faster as you speed up yoour metabolism. I had surgery on the 20th of February and have not had any complications and to date have lost 56 pounds, 20 of it before surgery. Remember you did not gain the weight over night and it will not come off over night. As long as you are losing that is what counts.
Good Luck and keep up the good work.

I had my RNY 2/28/08 and I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who feels I not losing as fast as we thought. But as I read everyone's email, I have come to the conclusion that those folks who lose 40 lbs + first month are including weight loss prior to surgery. I did not have to do a liquid diet (thank goodness) so I think 28 lb weight loss in 5 wks is okay, I guess. I really thought I would lose at least 40 lbs by now as everyone else who has responded to your emails. But I guess everyone loses on their own pace and at least we are losing. Again, I feel better reading all your replies that we are not the only ones who think we are not losing as much as everyone else. Keep us posted on your progress.
I am in a state of envy of all the weight the gastric bypass people have lost. With a band, and almost no restriction, I have only lost about 10 pounds. I decided to go back to liquid protien drinks and see if that doesn't kick in a few more pounds before I go see my Dr. next week. I hate to dissapoint everyone by not losing more quickly. I know with the band I just have to be patient.

OK, ladies ... kick in the pants time! We are ALL doing GREAT! Honestly, if we all do what we're supposed to (fluids, protein, vitamins, 600-800 calories a day, exercise) it's BOUND to come off, ya know? Our bodies are all unique and have been thrown into a crazy state by all the change that's coming at them. They may not adjust right away, but they'll adjust, all right! I have come to the conclusion that if I want to have a different outcome than I've had with weight loss attempts in the past, then I have to do things different. And that INCLUDES self-talk! Remember: Failing is not falling down, it is remaining where you have fallen. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP! Hold your heads up, girls! ((((((((((HUGS!))))))))))))) to all my surgery buddies!
