Generally don't feel well
Hi Michelle,
I had my surgery on 2-12-08 and have felt GREAT!! I went back to work after a week...have not thrown up at all and can tolerate everything I have tried. I have lost 30 pounds...but felt like that was not enough for 6 weeks out. Some people around here are rockstars and dropping all kinds of weight super fast!! I lost just about 30 before surgery too...with protein drinks 2x a day and one healthy meal.
I see my PCP this Friday to talk about my blood pressure meds...they sent me home from the hospital taking only 1/2 of my beta blocker and no Lisinopril or diurectic.
It sounds like we are both doing great... we are lucky!!!
Keep in touch!

Hi Chrislena,
I am so happy to hear someone say they've had no throwing up! I am scheduled to have my surgery next Tuesday, May 6 and I am so worried about the post-op vomiting that folks keep talking about. I hate throwing up worse than anything - I'd rather have a root canal.
Any tips that might have helped you through it so successfully?
Thanks
Connie
Hi Connie,
First of all congratulations!! You are on your way : )
As far as tips... the only think I can tell you is do what your
surgeon recommends. I felt a tiny bit nauseated when I first woke up...
I didn't try to be brave...I told them and they gave me something in my
IV...I also asked for an alcohol wipe to put under my nose because I had
heard that helps...and it did.
I would just tell you to follow the plan. Drink what is allowed...eat what is allowed...don't move to the next stage before you get permission to do so...
and when you do start eating CHEW CHEW CHEW. Don't eat until you are full...
stop when you are satisfied. A little will go a long way post op.
Everyone's journey is different. I truly believe this is like anything else...
you get out of it what you put into it. Keep a positive outlook...remember
that you are doing this to get healthy...and that you will be successful.
Keep me posted on your progress : )
