I need help. I have tried 10 different types of protein supplements and everyone makes me really sick feeling. I think it may be the protein itself. Does anyone have any suggestions on what worked for them?? I am 17 days Post-Op.

i, myself, have problems with protein, i tried lots but i always go back to unjury. www.unjury.com. they have chocolate (my favorite), vainilla, strawberry shorbet, unflavored and chicken broth flavor. they only sell them online, and you can also get trial size, if you want to buy does first and try them. good luck, miriam

What kind of protein are you drinking? My surgery was 2/25. On 3/1 I began drinking EAS Myoplex Original. I got the ready made. It's 42g of protein per 17 oz shake. I've only had the Chocolate Fudge but it taste pretty good cold. I believe it's also available in powder form as well as bars.

I am using the pre-op liquid diet from Bariatric Advantage on my first day of discharge from a complicated surgery. I was afraid to try anything because post-surgery, nothing seemed to taste good, but the strawberry tasted as good and went down easy, a little too easy. I am using a timer and making sure I take breaks between sips.

Prior to surgery for one month I was on Opti Fast protein shakes, soups and bars through Summa Bariatric in Akron. The day before surgery and 3 days following I was on clear liquids, fat free jello, fat free popsicles. For the next two weeks I have to follow the same plan but I can now add cream soups as long as I strain them. I've found the hardest part of cream based soups is finding soups that are low sodium. There are a few other things I can have but until my stomach heals there is not a lot of things I am able to have. Unlike your surgery mine was uneventful even though it involved repair of two hernias. The center I went through for my surgery gave me a list of different protein supplements as well as their protein content. Hopefully you will begin to feel better soon and your taste buds will kick in so that you can enjoy a bigger variety of protein shakes.

Me neither. I have the Unjury, I do agree it tastes better however, I can't get passed the smell. Having a hard time getting the protein down too.

Man thanks so much...I'm 7 days post op and just walked through the grocery store to get flavored water....I looked at all those goodies and started to feel like I'd doomed myself to a tasteless life of deprivation and suffering (my mind goes melodramatic in under 30)...anyway your protein ideas are really helpful and a med cup of flavor with some hidden powder beats endless gaggy shakes....what vitamins do you recommend? It is so helpful to know others in this city are going through the same kinds of feelings and life changes...I haven't made a group yet and am anxious to meet my sisters(and brothers) Thanks again MOC colorado springs
