Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. It's enough that you are dealing with healing from your surgery, but to get sick on top of that must be tough. If you are still running a fever you might want to call your doctor. He should be aware of that. I have to take a lot of pills too and I try to spread them out so I don't get that full feeling you described. Hope you get to feeling better. Sandi surgery 2/21/08

I had surgery 2/12 and taking pills for me just ruins my day. I have so many pills to take in the morning and at least 5 at night. I crushed them in the beginning and that about made me sick drinking them in liquid..so I started just swallowing the small ones and biting the bigger ones in half. It takes me a half an hour to get them down and I feel real full when it's over (and sick!!) I'm having problems getting any protein in at all OR calcium citrate. There's just got to be a better way!! The headaches are probably just a withdrawal of high carb foods that you were accustomed to eating. I went through that too in the beginning. Also, probably not getting enough food too. I felt sick all the time in the beginning....now I always feel like laying around.

Applesauce is a great medium for swallowing pills. I don't crush them, but if they are big I use a pill cutter. I can put up to 3 pill halves on a teaspoon of applesauce and they slide right down. I try and get Mussleman's with splenda (very low sugar). I still use the shakes from the pre-surgery liquid diet (med-lab) to make sure I get enough protein. You can use them with milk or soy, whichever is easier to tolerate. Just some thoughts to help with the pills and protein. I am struggling to get all my calcium citrate supplements in. Since I have acid trouble in digestion, I am taking calcium carbonate (antacid) in addition to 1 of my calcium citrate.
