Surgery 2/27 - What to take to the hospital?
Hi gals. I just had mine a week ago today...I had brought all kinds of things too, some i didnt even get to use like a book, had no time to read or just didnt feel up to reading, i had brought a nice new gown and robe, couldnt put it on while i was there as they wanted me to stay in the hospital gown.... very important to bring CHAP STICK and SOME NON SKID SOCKS OR SLIPPERS TO WALK, WALK WALK, that will come in handy. This was a good thing ....on the wednesday when I was able to go home they finially let me take a good shower so what I did was took one there at the hospital since it was nice and big and had handles incase i would have lost my balance or something, so then i was able to put my nice new gown and robe on and to come home in and felt refreshed and so much better so be sure if ya feel up to it, to ask if you can take a nice hot shower there before ya go and put your new PJS on for the trip home...I really dont think while I was there that i would of had time for a lap top or anything, the first day after coming out of recovery was very busy, when i finially got to my room i had bunches of nurses come in and get things set up and lots of company, then mostly wanted to rest that first day, although that night I did get up and walked the halls, helped with the gas....lots of Drs came in on the tuesday and I had to go and do the upper GI which took some time, then I did more walking that afternoon, you will want to rest too...then the wednesday it was gooo home day!! Good luck to you all...do remember to ask for pain meds if ya need em. It will be over before ya know it!!
You need socks house sloppers tooth brush /paste , hair brush, soap, shampoo, conditioner, underwear, clean outfit to leave in that is loose fitting like sweat pants and a buttondown ot zip down top trustme the last thing you want to do is raise your arms. You also want a cushy stuffed animal or body pollow incase you cough or sneeze to coushen your belly. I would not worry about PJ's you will be in a gown. Good luck. I am 7 years out.
