I am new at this and I am looking for a buddy.. I am calling today to find out if my insurance will cover this - I have a feeling they won't. Any idea how much this will cost out of pocket? :help:

Check the insurance help board. All insurances are so different it's hard to know if your particular one will cover it or not. Start with your benefits administrator at work or whoever handles your insurance for the company. If they don't know, ask for a number to call your insurance to ask questions. Then when you get someone on the phone who can actually answer your questions, get them to send it to you in writing. I live over in Mobile...just a little east of you and at my surgeons office the lap band is $18,000 including a year of followup and fills. My sister self paid for her gastric bypass in Atlanta and she paid around $23,000-$25000. Those should be about the averages but you need to chcek with the doctor's in your area.
