HELP, Any1
I thaught I'd get a 1 week head start on my pre op diet(VSG), however I am already finding it hard. Im getting head aches and just waiting for my next meal, can any1 give me some hints on how to get thru this tough time. I try drinking water when Im hungry, its helped a bit but gee Im peeing an awful lot.
well keep up the water i know the headaches are probably from caffiene withdrawel or from low blood suger or both, try to stick it out and make sure to take lots of vitamins I know i was miserable the first 4 days or so but after that things sort of calmed down for me now I only have problems in the bathroom lol...
on the plus side after 3 days my edema in my ankles started going down and most of the time its been staying down some so im very happy about that,
good luck to you!
i heard that after the fourth day it gets easier. also if you are doing in one week earlier then you have to do it, why dont you try adding an apple or banana each day and gradually go down, ie an apple today, 3/4 apple tomorrow, 1/2 the next day. that can help get you through the first few days.
i am actually allowed to have one peice of fruit a day on my liquid diet pre-op.
Hang in there. My headache got better after a few days. Are you allowed to have full liquids. Try to space your protein drinks every 4 hours and then drink clear liquid in between. I have a EAS protein drink in am, one at noon, soup cream of whatever as my meal protein. sugarfree pudding and at nine or so I have another protein drink. I supplement sugar free jello and crystle light inbetween. good luck it is hard. Add a yogurt for now until you really have to start the program.....Add some gum.
My pre op diet consists of and optifast shake for breakfast and lunch and a light meal consisting of fish, chicken or lean meat and vegetables for diner.
I was told to do this 2 weeks prior to surgery, but I thaught I'd start 1 week earlier, how ever I found that hard so I opted to do a shake for breakfast and a light lunch and diner. Now that I have settled on that and am feeling comfortable I will find it easier next week when I need to do the pre op diet consistently.
I was told by a number of dieticians and weight loss consultants that chewing gum makes you hungrier and I've found it to be true.
Thanx for the support.
Girl, I FEEEL your pain. My pre op diet is 2 high protein slimfast and one weigh****cher meal the first week and 3 high protein slimfast the second. I am 3 days into second week and it is getting better. Partly from seeing a 5lb weight loss in the first week. I can barely function if I miss my multivitamin. I am leaning on diet jello, boullion (in moderation because of the sodium) and diet popcicles. Keep up with the water, it's a good thing.
