Topic: RE: Encouraging words for "slow" losers
Bridget,
I see that you had Lapband. Our surgeon tells us that Lapband loses slower than RNY, but at couple years, they average out. Please don't get upset if you are comparing your weight loss to RNY because they are not the same. My mom is having Lapband in a couple months. Do you mind sharing your weight loss with me at this point? You can private message me if you'd like. Hang in there!

Topic: RE: Weight loss since Feb
I had the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy on Feb. 6th. I have lost 80 lbs. so far. It just keeps coming off. I think drinking lots of water really helps.

Jill,
I am the one who is depressed. I'm the lowest number here.
I don't think their is anyone on this board that has lower
numbers than me.
I guess I will come back on when I have some numbers to be
proud of.
Thanks

Topic: RE: Weight loss since Feb
Surgery date: 2-5-07
Weight Loss from highest weight: 75 pounds 310pd
" " from date of surgery 63 pounds 297pd
Weight to go: 84 pounds 150pd
Current weight: 234pounds
I can't help anyone stuck. I didn't drop any weight for a month. Then I lost 10 pounds in a week and a half. And that was only because a spider bite me and I was sicker than a dog and didn't eat much of anything. I started back eating for two days and gained a pound back. I feel like I don't eat any thing, but the weight just doesn't want to come off. So the only thing that worked for me was not to eat anything, but then I was so weak and shakey. And I knew it was from not eating right.
But any exercise does seem to help. Walking, swimming, working out.
Good Luck everyone.

Thank You SOOO Much!
I get frusturated at some of the posts I want to be encouraging to everyone but it stinks when you are so far behind them. I am down 55 (but just had a 12 pound loss the last 2 weeks I was stuck for over a month) We are all going to loose it slow and safe and heres to no Skin Issues!!!

Thanks for your post. I had been avoiding this board so I wouldn't get depressed seeing all the big numbers that others are losing. It feels great that I'm not alone. Thanks for your words of encouragment!

I hear you Angela... Only 51 for me. (well actually i gained 2 lbs this week so 49 right now)
I am fustrated too and it's seems like some people are judging me because i'm not losing as fast as other WLS patients they've met...
Well tough nouggies...I'm trying my best and getting my exercise and water and protein and i guess i look better even though i'm still way past obese on a BMI scale...
I do feel i have much more energy though and way less trouble with my feet/knees/back and bladder. (Prior to surgery, i could never hold "it" very long)
Dr S did say i'm on track for a 3 mo checkup. (He says his patients typically lose 40-60 lbs at 3 months)
But i see these others that have lost almost double at 3 months and i'm .

Topic: RE: Has anyone had ulcers?
Hi Mariam,
No I never had ulcer's before surgery. I did not have an edg before surgery though. I had lap RNY Feb 5th, 07; I have lost 47 since surgery (but 27 before) surgery for a grand total of 75 lbs since Dec 06. I was told I developed ulcers because of taking so much pain medication; and bacteria of the surgery. I don't know if they took a byopsy but I am sure they did. Some of us just get the luck of the draw I think!
Still I would do it all again. I feel much better than I have in years! How about you? What weight did you start at? I feel I have been a very slow loser; my NUT says that is a good thing. I am losing fat not muscle! Well I would still like it to be much faster; considering I feel I have made many sacarfies.. I have went from a size 24 to a size 16! Hope all continues to go well with you.. Sincerely, Judy R
Topic: RE: Has anyone had ulcers?
Hi Judy,
Thank you for your response...did you have ulcers before your surgery? I know that I did not because my surgeon requires an endoscopy to check for ulcers...I had a GBS on feb 20th and I have lost 68 lbs...I also would do it again, I feel great. They did say I may need it dilated again because that happens to alot of people. What kind of meds did they give you? and did they biopsy it to see if it was the bacteria kind? (h.pyloric) My byopsy has not come back yet...I have never had an ulcer in my life so I just wonder why this happened..?? What are your thoughts?
