Brigette, you are exactly right! I can see that you are going through what I am going through. I almost wanted to cancel the surgery. I thought that I would rather be dead than have to not eat anymore for the rest of my life. But people who have had the surgery said that you can eat again. Just not like the way we used to. Our society puts such an emphasis on food. It's really a shame. As I say to everyone, I guess we have to change how we feel about food. We have to think food as a fuel to live. Eat to live, not live to eat. I was definitely living to eat. I love food...all kinds of food. It don't eat because I am depressed. I Do eat because I am bored. I just love food. At my class meeting a week ago, the dietician recommended the book Before and After by Susan ? It is a recipe book for people who have had bariatric surgery. I really haven't been able to read it yet, I did get it though, but thumbing through it it looks good. Wednesday is my appt. with the doctor. There may be a chance I can have Laprascopic bypass. I hope so. Your feelings are quite normal. I am sure we all go through this. My husband is saying that I am doing the right thing. That helps alot. I hope this week goes by quickly. Good luck to you. I am here for you too. Thankyou for your support. Pam

Hi Charlotte, Glad you got some help and got your stuff. I had to get Flintstones chewables. But the Bariatriceating.com has the test tube protien drinks that are only 3 oz. that will be alot easier to get down two a dayat 42 gms protien, than the 20 oz bottles of Isopure that I would need three a day of to get in the 60 grams minimum of protien. ...while on clear liquids. I ordered two weeks worth, after that I can use the powdered protien and make shakes in the blender. Don't feel too bad. I had to start on medi fast liquids on Jan 2. My surgery was supposed to be jan 15. it got extended almost 3 more weeks to shrink my liver more, and my big fat abdomen. So it's been a very long time now....26 days to be exact. But I do get one lean and green meal a day. That is like the highlight of my day. I am starving by then. We'll all be on the losers bench very soon, and all of this will be well worth it. This is the hardest part of the journey , I think. You are in my prayers, Cissy

I live north of Spokane and am going to Dr. Kuri for lap-band surgery. I look forward to starting this journey and sharing with you. I would love to have contact with you during my growth (or shrinking) process. I am new to OH and to my pre-op low carb diet. I am 48, married and have twin 14 year old girls. I am so looking forward to being able to really keep up with them! Onward and upward (downward)... the most challenging process so far... not drinking with meals...Thanks and looking forward to getting to know you!

Cissy, Thank you so much for your words. They are so comforting. I, too, do not think it is god's will for us to stay sick. And it was a "Godsend" for us to find the answer to our prayers through this surgery and become healthy again. Morgen

Carolyn, I can really relate to the emotional roller coaster you are going through. I, too, am that way. I have been journaling and it helps some to get my fears on paper. Just to get them out to a non-judgemental piece of paper and help me find solutions or just vent. I give you good energy. I know that emotional roller coasters are no fun, to say the least. But we will get through this. And we will be soooomuch the better for it. As my friend on the cali board said to me, there is a chance of something going wrong, but I can die on the operating table or I can choose to die a long slow death from Morbid Obesity. We are making the right choice and we are truly brave. Morgen
