Topic: How did you find out you were approved, how did you react, how are you preparing?
I just found out yesterday that I was approved and got my date (Feb 15). I have been working on this for almost a year, was denined twice through a different ins co. And, I was so nervous to find out the decision (the surgeons off called me at home and I didn't hear it ringing until the last min, but it was on my caller id, and they called me at work but I had left early) N E way, I had to call them back and my heart was racing. ( I am freakin out t o my husband, like this is it. I don't know if I can handle fighting for this much longer) my last two denials were tough. My hubby was saying like well if your nervous, wait until later (does not sound like him at all, so I knew he knew something...he did) but I thought it was negative because he was trying to get me to wait, which I am known for putting things off. So I call and I was approved . I am very happy, but it hasn't like hit me yet. I'm not scared or nervous (yet) I'm just blah about it. I keep thinking their going to call me back and say oh were sorry we had you confused with some else your denied. Weird hugh
Topic: RE: Changed to Laproscopic!!!
Hi Cissy,
You wanted to know how I lost 50 lbs. Well, my insurance company said I had to go on a supervised diet for 1 year (and fail) in ordr to be approved for the surgery. I went on a 1200 calorie diet and did water aerobics every day. However during the holidays I gained about 20 lbs. after they called and approved of my surgery. I was very naughty. I ate everything because I knew I would never be able to eat it again.
I have lost that 20 lbs. being on the liquid protein shakes for 2 meals and eating only 4 oz of protein and veggies for dinner.
So, a little more than a week, week and a half, I have lost 20 lbs.
Went on the web today and did some searching on the different diets for bariatric surgery patients. I think my doctor is the toughest. I can only have pureed protein for about 8 weeks x3 meals. That is going to be boring and tedious. But I shall keep to it. What is yours like??
I was feeling very weak, but the doctor already took me off my blood pressure medicine because it was too low. One down.
I was writing out a shopping list for things I needed while I was in the hospital and food for when I come home.
How are you doing with all that???
Keep in touch,
Pam

Topic: RE: Moved to Feb 26th
((hugs)) I totally know how you feel. I have had my surgery date changed three times due to medical issues. It's so frustrating to see your date - the one you've been looking forward to for so long -- come and go. Hang in there! It'll be here before you k now it!
