Encouraging words for "slow" losers
I was watching big medicine last night and when a woman came in for her follow up visit, the doctor mentioned that it is better to lose weight slower because you don't lose so much muscle. For those of you losing faster - be aware and make sure you are getting in all your protein and working out to keep as much muscle as possible.
Again, I hear we all balance out at the end of a year. It doesn't necessarily make you feel better right now - but know you are not alone. I have seen many people posting about slow weight loss and thought this information might be encouraging.
Love you guys!!

Dear shelley
they were very encouraging words.
I am one of those slow losers. I did have infection in the port incision.
Witch put off getting a fill, not wanting to infect the port.
So being done in feb. Got my first fill in May. I have not gained any
weight, but I stay the same. I'm prob. 15.4 lbs. That is it. That is all of
it. I have a pedometer that I wear everyday. It counts the steps I take,
and the miles I go just with everyday things. Each day you try to beat the numbers the day before. Find more reasons to walk other places through
the day. "like instead of driving to wawa, just walk there."
it is like you want those numbers up, and you record them.
I did 1,029.9 today ..........So tomorrow, I have to increase it.
Trying very hard not to get sad over it, but it is hard.
Hope to get another fill soon.
I need to see some numbers.
Thanks so much,
take care
bridget k.
Thank you so much for the encouraging words!
I've lost 86 pounds overall but only 36 of them since the surgery on 2/26/07. I have been stuck and it is depressing and frustrating. Sometimes I wonder if the surgery was done wrong or maybe there is just something wrong with me. I can't exercise due to immobility and Prednisone is taken daily for RA and that gets in the way of weight loss so I have obstacles too. I'm trying to keep positive but those blues just sneak up on me sometimes. I am grateful for the WL to date and feel so much better than I did at 365 pounds. I can breathe easier and am more comfortable. I thank God for this website and all of you who are there to share and listen. XOXO
OHHHH!!! THAT DOES MAKE ME FEEL BETTER!!
I am one of the slow losers too!! I had my surgery on 2/28 and I've lost 46 lbs since then. It is so frustrating to see other people who had the same amount of weight to lose, have their surgery the same day as mine and be close to their halfway mark when I'm still struggling just to make it to 50 lbs!
Some days, I secretly do think that I've made a mistake. (I've lost more and faster doing the Atkins diet. HMMPH!!) But then again, all of those pounds came back and brought their friends!!
So if I'm not losing muscle, that is a great comfort at least!
I hear you Angela... Only 51 for me. (well actually i gained 2 lbs this week so 49 right now)
I am fustrated too and it's seems like some people are judging me because i'm not losing as fast as other WLS patients they've met...
Well tough nouggies...I'm trying my best and getting my exercise and water and protein and i guess i look better even though i'm still way past obese on a BMI scale...
I do feel i have much more energy though and way less trouble with my feet/knees/back and bladder. (Prior to surgery, i could never hold "it" very long)
Dr S did say i'm on track for a 3 mo checkup. (He says his patients typically lose 40-60 lbs at 3 months)
But i see these others that have lost almost double at 3 months and i'm .
