Trouble Eating Eggs

It's been a month since my surgery and I've been cleared to eat solid foods by my doctor! YEAHH!!! So far, so good. I've been experimenting with a few things and it feels good to be able to eat a little! But I'm still unable to eat EGGS!! UGGH!! Even in the pureed stage, I couldn't eat eggs! At first, I thought it was because it was too soon after the surgery. But yesterday, I had to take my DH to the airport and we stopped at McDonald's for breakfast. At first, I wasn't going to try anything even though I was really hungry. But then I decided to try a breakfast biscuit with sausage because I did have a sandwich on lite bread the other day with no problems. But when I opened my sandwich, it was sausage, EGG, and cheese!! UGHH!! I thought, what the heck, let's try egg again. I took a small bite, chewed it until it was mush and swallowed. The first few bites went down okay, but once it landed in my tummy, OHHHHH NO!!! It's the EGG! As soon as I took the egg off the same sandwich, the rest went down without a problem. WHAT GIVES??? Will I ever be able to eat eggs again??

I guess I've been lucky. I can eat pretty much anything....even eggs. I've read a lot of posts where people aren't able to eat them though. I would say give it a while and then try again--assuming you really like eggs?? Good luck.

Hey there Angela, I had trouble with eggs about 2 weeks out. Oh, did I get so sick. I was told at a support group meeting that a hard boiled egg was fine as long as I mashed it up really, really good and made it creamy with light mayo. Well I did that and about 3 quarters thru it, I was like "Ohhhhhh, this is so not a good idea" I got really sick for 3 hours. Then just last week I was craving eggs. So I made scambled eggs and it actually stayed down and everything was good. Then just Saturday I made an omlette with turkey bacon, onions and green peppers. It was really good and stayed down. So maybe its just a matter of waiting until you are able to "stomach" it. Hope that helps.

Angela I have a problem too with eggs.. I am 2 months out.. And chicken too is hard to get down--tried all ways and sometimes it goes down sometimes it does not--so my nutrtionist just tells me to keep on trying as time goes by.... Susie

Hi there Angela. I loved eggs before, and luckily am still able to eat them now. BUT, for some reason the only time I ever got an upset tummy was when they weren't scrambled. I tried to make an egg over medium and that didn't go well. But scrambled eggs I eat all the time. They say your taste buds will change and your tolerance to food. A lot of people have trouble with bread, dairy products, beef, and eggs. Sorry to hear you have this problem. I'd give it a month or so and try again, there will be tons of changing going on from what I hear as far as food tolerance.
