I had surgery 2-21-07 and for the past week, I've been stuck at a 27 pound weight loss. Anyone else still in the 20's? I'm trying to keep focused on the big picture but it's starting to take it's toll on my. Thanks! ...Jill

HI Jill, I had my Lap RNY on 2/20/06 and am now at 27 lbs. at well I was at a stand still for about a week and a half. I am not eating much at all so I started making sure I had protien drinks 3 times a day and that has helped me to star the loosing again. I also mix a scoop of Jay Robb Chocolate Protien powder with my coffee (mix it in the Magic Bullet) it tastes like a Satrbucks Treat! I only allow myself 1 8oz cup of coffee a day and drink an extra 2 waters to offset it. I was getting sick of shakes so I went to www.bariatriceating.com for some new shake suggestions and I also use the IDS Whey Protien (test tubes) Fruit Punch mixed with my water & ice (24 grams of protien) and it's not creamy like all the shakes. Adding the 3 drinks started to move along the weight loss! I was frusturated like you but am looking at it like that is less weight that I am carrying arround and more will be gone soon. Lisa

Lisa, Thanks for the post. It's nice to feel a little normal. By the way, your avatar looks alot like me. It was like looking at a picture of myself. Not trying to freak you out but it's interesting. Thanks for sharing your story. I'll work harder at the protein thing. Thanks! ...Jill

I feel the pain with you. I had surgery 2/21/07 and I have lost 37 pound and have been there for the last 3 weeks. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or not eatting right I have been playing by the book. I wished I had some kind of help. I don't want to be stuck where I am. I am getting weak!!!!!!!!!!!! So I know exactly where you are coming from.

Hey ladies... I had my surgery on 2-20-2007 and all was going well for the first 4 weeks and lost 38 pounds...and now I am stuck... I thought it was due to being time for my montly but I didn't start that either... must be something about being this far post op...but I want more. I do my walking and drink my water... my doctor didn't really want to put me on any protein shakes...so the protein I get is only through my food.. some I keep down and some I don't.... good luck ladies I know we will all start losing again soon. Also I read that even if the scales don't show it you still could be losing inches... so you may want to take measurements.

i'm exactly where you are. i had surgery on 2/17 and am stuck at 38lbs for the last week. what the heck? i need to use fitday.com, but it's such a pain in the neck to input all those numbers. i am an OT and work in the schools and next week is the spring break. i hope to go to the gym everyday if i can! or at least more than i am now. i hope that gets me over this hump! i dont understand how you lose inches if you're not losing weight? my excerise isn't different. kim

Hey all, My surgery was 2-27-07 and I am stuck at 33 pounds for about a week. I have been taking measurements and some of those are down slightly. I know I am not getting enough liquids, so I am working on increasing. I think I am going to have to be more diligent about eating and plugging everything into fitday.com so I can keep better track of what I am doing. It sure is nice that we have this forum because it can feel like no one else has the same problem until someone else posts it. V

To everyone above. I lost 28 pounds in my first month and then had a 3 and a half week stall! In that time I found out it was normal and very common to have a stall heading into your second month. It can be very long, so keep your chin up and just work through it. they say you might be able to bust the stall by changing out your protein intake and excersise routine. That didn't work for me, though... when I broke the plateau it was just like any other day. 3 and a half weeks is a long time! You might not stall out that long, or you might stall out longer. Just know it is really pretty common in this time period, and it will pass. When I busted mine last week I started losing a pound a day, and I haven't stopped yet.

I had surgery 2/20/07 and I am stuck at 28 lbs. I actually lost 18 lbs the first week and then stalled/fluctuated until last week and now have lost another ten. I notice that my stall went through my monthly cycle and then when that was over, the stall stopped. Hope its helpful. For those that have lost in the 30's, I'd love to know what your starting weight was and how much you have to lose. I am trying to determine if people with more to lose, lose it faster. Of course, if that's too personal, I'm not trying to be nosy....

I just posted to someone else, this is a phase of the surgery, jut like being tired and not eating all of what you should eat. We go through phases in this process. I should know, being four almost five years out. Tired, not hungry and plateau are phases. These should go away with time. Our body is adjusting to the amount of food that we are not eating anymore. Kind of like a starvation mode. Remember the protein, take your vitamins and continue to exercise. This phase will soon be over. Smile, remember that you have crossed the hardest point, the decision, and eye the goal. Cheers
