Whats up, it'll be a week this friday since my surgery and it is not easy at all. (I had the surgery Feb 23rd) I had the open procedure so its taking longer for me to heal and move around like I want to. Right now I'm still sore and temptations for certian foods is killing me. I can only eat certain soft foods and mainly liquids. The whole hospitial process was miseriable and then my period had a nerve to come on the day after surgery making things worst. Other than pain from the incision, I been dealing with gas that really hurt!!! It makes me not even want to eat anything. (I been taking mylanta for it) But overall I'm doing alright. I'm just ready for all this to be over so I can go back to normal activities and start losing wieght. Hope to hear from you soon. Maybe you can give me some advice.

Welcome home. I'm recently home from surgery myself. I was able to have the lap rny, so that has made some of it easier than if it had been open. I know what you mean by the gas issue though. Boy my tummy gets tight. The clinic told me to try to walk walk walk. They discouraged me from taking anything for the gas pains. Just let it work its way out the old fashioned way. Congrats on getting through the post op period. I know there will be bumps along the road, but you're on the way to better health.

I just got home Wed from having RNY on Tue. I don't think it is fair to compare the two, open is probably much more of a shock to the system and way more painful. Things aren't so bad for me, except for my back hurting a LOT. I haven't been really gassy either...unless that is what is causing my back to hurt? I used a Gas-X strip once but didn't really notice a difference. I noticed that I usually have to burp after I have a sip of water, and that can be a bit painful. I'm not on solids yet. Only water, jello, and clear broth. I haven't been craving anything at all, but the chicken broth has to be really hot or I want to gag! Water has to be room temp. Hope to get soft food next week, I'm really looking forward to an egg and maybe some yogurt or sugar free pudding! Hang in there.....things will get better for you, I'm sure.
