2 weeks post op ?????
Hello there! I am two weeks post op and have a silly question.. Has anyone been told not to drink acidic juices? Unfortunately my nutritionist and Dr. dont always offer the same info so I am not sure if it is OK to drink grapefruit juice. All the literature they gave me says that fruit juice is OK as long as you have small amounts and dilute 50/50 with water. No specific rules about what kind of fruit juice. But today my nutritionist called to check on me and said that I shouldn't have the grapefruit juice because of the acid. After two weeks of water and protein shakes the grapefruit juice was SOO! GOOD! I hate the thought of not drinking it now. Any ideas anyone? Thanks!
Hi Amy, I am not familiar with the grapefruit juice issue...I do know it is not on my list of OK juices though. I am allowed to have low pulp OJ...wonder what the acidic difference is there? If you are two weeks out, are you now on a "soft"diet? I am looking very forward to my "soft" diet...I do not care if I have to mash my avacados or carrots or squa**** all sounds yummy and better than soup! )

Hi, I'm 3 weeks post op and started soft food while I was still in the hospital. I haven't tried fruit juice yet because if the sugar content. I've done well on soft food the whole time.
I went back to work yesterday and did fairly well. Trying to get the 60 onces of liquid is hard to do though, thats a lot!

I am still on the full liquid diet with the only additions being a scrambled egg, cottage cheese ( heavenly after 10 days of just liquid!!) and a peice of whole wheat toast. I don't care for eggs so it's hard to make myself try that and the toast seems too scary so the only thing I've tried is the cottage cheese. I called the Dr. office this morning and they said that the juice was ok as long as I am diluting it.
Wow I am 2 weeks and 2 days post op and I've had pizza, chocolate - anything I wanted really but I can only eat a tiny tiny bit before feeling sick. I hate the protein shakes so I have not had one of them since trying one inthe hospital. My doctor just told me to chew everything 30 times before swallowing. I miss soda but I did have a few sips here and there. Mostly I live on the fruit flavored waters like Fruit20 or Propell. I've lost 32 pounds so far- yeah!
OMG I had my surgery the same day and went to the dr's on tues and Im on pureed foods I cant believe your able to eat pizza and chocolate isnt that kinda defeating the purpose of having the surgery?? I started mashed potatoes wet down with broth and its not so bad and you can also have scrambled eggs. There's alot of soft foods that are way better for you then pizza and chocolate.
Well good luck
