Changed to Laproscopic!!!
Hi everyone,
Since I have lost 50 lbs. since I started this procedure, the doctor just said I do NOT have to have the open gastric bypass but the laproscopic one instead. I was thrilled!! I still am scared to death. Not of the surgery itself, but the long term thought of not eating the same kind of foods I used to. I almost cancelled the surgery. Today was my meeting with the surgeon. He said I was dehydrated! I am too weak to do the exercises. Even my shoulders and neck hurt. I have almost passed out twice and feel very dizzy. He said to stop taking my blood pressure medicine and drink more fluids. I told him I do drink the 64oz required. I asked my husband today if he was with me for the long hall. I have always been insecure that way. I told him that I did not want to go through this if he wasn't. Yes, I am doing this for me but I am also doing it for him. He said he was. He thought I was doing the right thing. Sooo, I guess Monday, Feb. 5th at 7:30 I am going to have that surgery! Is anyone else so darn emotional? I cry at any moment. I saw the doctor and I started crying. He reassured me he would be with me every step of the way. I hope so.
Good luck to all of you February people. My prayers are with you.
Pam
Good News about the lap!!! You will recvover and start your losing journey so much easier.
I thought I was doing pretty good until I started to make plans for someone to take care of my daughters while I am in the hospital(3yo and 9mo ) I just started to cry. I am trying to be confident but I am well aware of the risks.
Be Strong and Best of Luck,
Jennifer
Hi Cissy,
You wanted to know how I lost 50 lbs. Well, my insurance company said I had to go on a supervised diet for 1 year (and fail) in ordr to be approved for the surgery. I went on a 1200 calorie diet and did water aerobics every day. However during the holidays I gained about 20 lbs. after they called and approved of my surgery. I was very naughty. I ate everything because I knew I would never be able to eat it again.
I have lost that 20 lbs. being on the liquid protein shakes for 2 meals and eating only 4 oz of protein and veggies for dinner.
So, a little more than a week, week and a half, I have lost 20 lbs.
Went on the web today and did some searching on the different diets for bariatric surgery patients. I think my doctor is the toughest. I can only have pureed protein for about 8 weeks x3 meals. That is going to be boring and tedious. But I shall keep to it. What is yours like??
I was feeling very weak, but the doctor already took me off my blood pressure medicine because it was too low. One down.
I was writing out a shopping list for things I needed while I was in the hospital and food for when I come home.
How are you doing with all that???
Keep in touch,
Pam
