Topic: RE: Okay so what does everyone see!!!
Rie, I see a very pretty & thin lady! You look terrific. I can definitely see a difference but I know what you mean too. I take pictures thinking I'm gonna look good and when I see them I think I look terrible. I think it's US though. Our eyes just go directly to the flaws and forget to look at the whole picture instead. I also agree with my surgery twin Terri. I still feel fat because I know underneath my clothes is my ugly belly that hangs and looks pretty much fat. When I wear clothes, of course, it's not so noticeable but I do have a little bulge. I hate that little bulge. LOL! It's crazy this mind thing. I want to feel & think I'm thin already! It's sooo weird...
Anyway, you look great.

Topic: RE: 2 surgeries in one....almost 7 month anniversary....NO followup doctor yet!
Thanks for the replies.
As far as stopping weight loss, I do not understand why I should stop it as well I don't think one can after a gastric bypass.
I had an on call doctor release me.
I will take your advice and call my ins company
As well I will print up blood work from the above post and bring it to my primary.
Thank you

At 7 months out, you sound like you actually need to stop your weight loss at this point and not continue. You should contact the surgeon that performed the surgery, follow up care with the RNY is extremely important.
It doesn't sound like your getting in enough protein daily, nor does it sound like your drinking enough liquids. The standard for women (which varies from surgeon to surgeon) is 70 grams of protein a day, and at least 64 oz of water. Most people have to resort to protein shakes in order to get in the protein, and have to sip constantly to get in the liquids.
As far as blood work, any local PCP or endocrinologist (sp?) can order blood work to be done on you. I'm not sure what most Doctors have run for the RNY, but if you go to www.duodenalswitch.com you can find lists of what doctors order for DSers. It's much more involved then just running blood counts, and lipid pannels.
I'd highly recommend you contact your insurance company and find out if there is another surgeon in your area or outside your area that you can go to...if not it might be worth paying out of pocket to go to one. Your health is very important, and not following up with a doctor post op can have long term consequences.

BTW how did you get released from the hospital if your doctor never saw you? The doctors signature is required to release you from most hosptials.
Topic: 1 Year Post op
I've been pretty vocal about my year journey so I won't go into too much detail in this post, but needless to day a year ago today I walked into the OR and had the DS.
Starting weight: 492
Surgery weight: 472
Current Weight: 234
Loss for month 12: 10 lbs
Loss Since surgery: 238
Total Loss: 258
Now the excess weight loss percent depends on my goal of the week. My ultimate dream goal was 175, at this time I'm wondering if that will be too thin...but assuming for now that is my goal.....I've lost 80.1% of my excess weight since the day of surgery.
In terms of clothing size, I've gone from a 6x-7x shirt to an XL, and from a size 74 (plus..you know the kind with the stretchy waist) pants to a size 42 (regular waist...i'm probably ok to go into some size 40s, but I still like to wear my cloths baggy to hide some skin issues.
Biggest Changes:
1) not having to shop in the big and tall store anymore
2) Not having to worry if I will fit into a seat in a public place...or worse break a seat
2b) just thought of this one ....being able to walk more then 10 feet without being out of breath
2c) related to b....no more sleep apnea
3) More self confidence, and desire to take care of myself
4) i finally feel in control of my weight issues for the first time in my life.
Thank you to everyone on this forum, who has offerred words of encouragement along the way.
Scott
